There is rumoured interest from higher level Austrian ICEHL side in Travis Oleksuk.

Allegedly we’d be after former Cardiff winger Matias Sointu as his replacement.

Would be a big blow.
Not someone I remember at all and as a forward I normally consider that a bad thing... :slaphead:

Looking at his EP stats I can see why, so it wouldn't be a remarkable swap out.. but Travis Oleksuk has hardly made waves either so probably like for like, which in itself is disappointing because I can only see the benefit of replacing an established (albeit only a couple of month) player with better quality.. and I dont see this being that different.. 8|
We’ll lose face-offs, and a quality defensive centre which is priceless in a Fox team. Sointu would be okay and fits what Fox likes in a player but would mean that we lose a centre, so Armstrong likely moves back in there.

Cardiff fans aren’t happy Sointu is rumoured to be coming here which is usually a good sign.

I like Oleksuk and can see him becoming more and more integral as the season progresses.
Not the type to get on the highlights reel every week but the sort of player who we would miss if he were to leave.

Looks like Oleksuk is all but gone. Also saw Sointu was on a 'moving day' yesterday so seems this is true!

This switch is now official on both players.

Villacher SV have paid us some compensation.

Shame he’s gone!! I thought he brought much needed FO wins, the likes of which we’ve not seen for many years.

Big shame.
Going to be a big miss as well.

We'll miss his faceoffs, but I'm not sure about much else.

My mate did some stats last week that we were looking at pre game and based on those Oleksuk would have been my first for an aisle seat.

He was comfortably worst on +/- stats and his points output was very poor.

The one positive was his faceoffs, he was outstanding at those.

I'm not convinced the new guy will be an upgrade, but we shall see.

Regards

He was never going to set the league on fire, but I did think he showed signs of improvement over the last few games.

I wish him and his family well, but won’t miss my Amazon device going off (other devices are available) every time his name is mentioned :D

I wouldn’t say I’m over excited by our new signing, but we do at least have an immediate replacement.

I have family in Cardiff that are friends with a number of Devils. They were very inpressed with him and aren't happy at seeing him in Orange...
