You can't win the league in Sept but you can certainly lose it, as we would have done just before the pandemic. We had a horrible Sept/Oct, but went on a ridiculous run that saw us not too far behind Cadiff, and winning the CC.

Of course there will be off nights, that's sport. There will be nights were we don't deserve to lose but will do so. However, some concerns I've mentioned are backed up by facts/stats. It needs improving

I didn't see the end of the Coventry game so can't fully comment what went off etc. I understand your point that it's an exhibition game etc, but I like to see my team get mardy and be a sore loser. I personally and I'm sure I'm in the minority here, love the rough stuff and when it boils over and now that the game has changed they're rare occurrences, so I enjoy it when it happens. Steelers team and identity of old was in your face hockey that sometimes boiled over and crossed the line. It also brought a lot of silverware. Under Fox, we've not done so well so far with keeping it all classy etc.

If you watch the end of the highlights from Sunday's game it is actually Lichinsky (probably spelt wrong) who comes on and bodies Raska for no reason - McNally then reacts (and rightly so) which causes the chaos to ensue. Personally have no issue with McNally standing up for his team mates in this manner, he wasn't the instigator of the coming together.

If we had lost and started face washing etc. for no reason I would understand the questions regarding discipline, however, that isn't true in this case (well from the highlights I've seen).

Also, good to create a little early rivalry between the teams, we always seem to have some entertaining games against the Blaze and I think we will see some passionate games against them this season too. I like the 'rougher' side of the game too but we have to be smart and not give away daft penalties ( I would say Connolly's and Jones' fell in that daft category), definitely have no problem with us sticking up for each other and sometimes sparking things when necessary often that can be a momentum changer, Connolly when kept in check can ignite the crowd and the team and hopefully he, McNally and Mitchell (when he plays) can be positive physical presences for us this season.

Having passion and a desire to win is great, I'm all for that. However, there is a difference between that and being a mardarse!

Chill out, the Steelers will be fine.
That is not acceptable... cut that out now before it starts, we dont go around calling members names..

I'm not offended @Jayboy I don't think @steelerblue meant any offence, plus I have a thick skin anyway :thumb:
I didn't think you would be, knowing you and your style but I dont want that kind of thing on the forum.. we worked hard to get away from that type of issue... We all have opinions and absolutely everyone is able to voice them on here without the name calling, that only leads to more...

This is an example of fantastic forum moderating, you have a good point, if you let someone off without even telling them, others will see that and assume they can also get away with it, and that's how online social interaction, or even irl for that matter, becomes toxic.

Jay, my parking post wasn’t my first ever, I’ve been a member since around 2013 but it’s my first post for a long time, possibly since the forum changed formats.

Enjoyed the highlights. Much better than the 1-0 game at Sheffield :asleep:

A few observations purely on watching the highlights only.

Is Petgrave a forward then? As every time I see him he’s further forward than our forwards! leaving break away chances which Blaze took.

Connolly incident was started by a push in his back. He took it a little too far, but I loved it haha.

Sam Jones was illegally hit IMO and he got the retaliation penalty, but I have no issues in him sticking up for himself.

The McNally incident was sticking up for his team mates which a few of us have been crying out for, for years! Plus it was no more than a few handbags. Nothing.

Really hope that creates some rivalry! I might make an effort to watch the next Coventry game.

Ostlund was apparently injured during warm up on Saturday, does anyone know if they saw any issues then from where you were? Also Jay, you put Greenfield as no. 31 but he's actually just no. 1, just realised.

I do hope the Ostlund injury isn't a smoke screen form an early departure? there hasn't been much information provided by the club, in the star or on this forum to suggest otherwise, but its still worrying!!
Do we have any definitive information about the injury? how it happened and the timescale for a return?
Its all very quiet!! Fox hinted at a replacement in the star article but nothing more than that!
