Season Ticket holders and Covid 19

So It seems to me glaringly obvious that at some point in the very near future there is a increasingly large risk that some fans are going to find going to watch games live very hard and would prefer to get the stream for home games, to keep the safest they could possibly be.

But let me ask this open question, shouldn't the club provide season ticket holders and pre paid ticket holders a free complimentary code to watch the stream for free? after all havent they already paid to see the game, in a great deal of cases it would be no fault of their own, if the government rules and advice meant they should not attend games.

Maybe I am far of the mark here but wouldn't that be a great way to prove they care for the fans and put to bed once and for all the corporate Steelers tag.. Especially those that put up their money before even a puck even dropped not knowing whether the season would even go ahead?

I think that’s a good idea and would be a very good gesture by the club if they were to do this for season ticket holders.

My only concern would be how they would make sure the code or whatever system they chose isn’t shared with other non season ticket holders.

I don’t think this would happen though unless there’s another lockdown of some sort.

I would think each Season ticket holder gets a unique code.. it's not hard to do, a bit like an online 2 factor authentication. it can then only be used once per game.. then you get the code via text, you pop that in and it confirms you entitled to watch the stream free...

That’s a very good idea, though I doubt it would happen.

We have quite a few non season ticket seats around us so if these aren’t sold we feel okay but have bought the webcast a couple of times when we knew the game would be near capacity. On other occasions if she finds herself surrounded, my wife will go and sit on her own in the middle of an emptier block.

I think that we are already at that point for the clinically vulnerable. I certainly don't want to go to games where the wearing of masks is not compulsory or enforced. A free stream would give ticket holders a choice. Few people go alone to a game, so the Steelers would be giving away a £15 stream for multiple tickets purchased.

Actually we have been in this situation all season. For medical reasons we could not take the considerable risk of Covid. I write to steelers before the season started. Our money had been with them since the previously aborted year. I said we were going to have to use streaming. We have done this fir every game. So we are paying twice. I asked if they could help with this.

What is the actual plan of action for Season ticket holders if the season is postponed/cancelled or played behind closed doors then I wonder...

I’ve just listened to a really level headed guy from WHO on Sky. He says he is more concerned than he has ever been in a long career. The new number of Omicron are terrifying and it is hard to see how the NHS will not get overwhelmed. The apparent mildness of it is now thought to be misleading analysis rather than real.

If you had listened to this you really would come to the conclusion that attending ice hockey games from now on is probably dangerous and irresponsible. We may only have another two or three weeks at most of ice hockey as we know it. I hope my analysis of this new data is wrong but it may soon be an irrelevant question about live versus streaming.
