Not great sportsmanship from us either. Since when did we boo opposing teams onto the ice, boo former players and then boo whenever the opposition had the puck in the first 10 minutes. Are we attracting a lot of football supporters who don’t know how to behave ?
Sad.
We've been incredibly welcoming to teams for way too long. They get the warmest of welcomes, they must love playing at the arena.

Why on earth should be we clap a team onto the ice when we're trying to beat them, we should be doing all we can to make it as intimidating as possible.

Forget the O'Connor stuff - last night Cardiff knew they were playing away and that's how it should be IMO.

Since always?

What's wrong with trying to create an intimidating atmosphere for the opposition ?

It's sport. It happens.

I'm pretty sure it happens at every rink we visit so why can't we be reciprocal?
No, it hasn't always happened. Mark Mathieson, for example, wasn't booed. If people feel the need to boo, that's up to them. I neither clap or boo a team or ex-Steeler. I keep silent - there's nothing for the opposition to feed off there.

I too keep silent and don't clap the visiting team. We want them to come and play but we don't want them too comfortable.

I don't think booing a team or the officials before the game is the right thing to do. IMO the psychological effect of a hostile reception when you've not done anything yet to justify it would spur them on to want to shut us up by beating us in the case of the team and for the officials to be more resentful and quicker to judge against us.

I could understand it more if they'd done something in a previous game to justify such hostility but last night we celebrated beating Cardiff in the Challenge Cup, wasn't that enough goading?

As for the officials I suppose they expect it now it's so ingrained in some supporters to boo them at the start but I think booing them when they do get things blatantly wrong on numerous occasions sends a more powerful message to their supervisors. Once the arm's gone up there's no going back. Like Premier league refs they have to review and reflect on it later, but sending a message to them that they're useless before the game's started can't put them in a positive frame of mind can it?

B O'C is another thing. I think he was wrong to expect more time than he was given to make his decision about a new contract but that doesn't mean we should disrespect him ever more.

Very poor sportsmanship from Cardiff tonight, especially Carruth the netminder, poor losers! We always clap the away team when they come round but won't clap Cardiff in future.
Very enjoyable game tonight, I think we're in for an entertaining season!
Any news on Brust?
I didn’t see that as we’d gone.

Brilliant though if Cardiff just disappeared. We want teams not to enjoy their visits to the arena.

Last night's result in perspective shows the difference in what Fox has instilled to previous incumbents.

Too many times before, we would have crumbled further after going down 2-4. The fact they kept pushing even when it was the closing stages, is a testament to the Fox coaching methodology.

And this was without a decent pre-season too. Hopefully this train keeps on a rolling!

Sunday was a league game not Challenge Cup.

I know it was a league game but before the game we saw video and banner raising for the 2020 Challenge Cup final. I didn’t see the need to boo them onto the ice after that.

Also many of the traveling Cardiff supporters applauded the Steelers team during the banner raising. Just saying.

I was hoping we would see some highlights of the game. Guess we won’t with it being on Premier Sports and they only had 1 camera
