Fife’s third forward signing of the night is American centre Jacob Benson.

The 25 year old has iced a small amount of pro hockey in the ECHL, 21 games with the Jacksonville IceMen & Tulsa Oilers.

He played 4 years NCAA with St Cloud State University Huskies.

Belfast are linked with 25yo, serial trophy winning forward JJ Piccnich, most recently of the ECHL’s Orlando Solar Bears.

The Giants are also alleged to be in for 6”4”, former NHLer & 4th overall pick Griffin Reinhart who last played for the DEL’s Iserlohn Roosters. Although other reports have him re-signing there.

Fife are apparently to announce well-known EIHL faces Paul Swindlehurst & Shane Owen, possibly as early as tonight.

Glasgow are once again linked with their regularly rumoured forward Wacey Rabbit. It’s the strongest ever link though, as fellow native Indian Colton Yellow Horn is in the roster.

Coventry have also signed Canadian centre Matthew Thompson.

The 27 year old joins the Blaze from the ECHL's Indy Fuel, and has five appearances at AHL level with the Rockford Ice Hogs.

One of his team-mates at the Fuel last season was former Dundee netminder Dan Bakala; who won the CHL with Frölunda in 2017.

The 29 year old Canadian forward has iced 2 pro seasons in the EIHL, and in 19/20, netted 26 times.

Manchester have added another ex Belfast forward in Liam Morgan.

He joined the Giants in 19/20 as a first-year-pro and iced 47 games, scoring 33 points.

He didn’t play in 20/21.

RUMOUR(S)

Cardiff have been linked with 2 vastly different players today.

Firstly, hugely experienced AHL & Major European forward with NHL on his CV, Brodie Dupont.

A big body at 6”2” 210lbs he’d be physical and has over 400 AHL games. He has a single NHL games as well as 3 years in the DEL & 1 in EBEL.

Would be a fantastic signing.

Secondly, and oddly, they’re linked with their coaches son, 18 year old Skate Skalde.

He has no notable junior experience to speak of, so unless he’s Brit eligible he’d be a poor signing on paper.

Cardiff have confirmed the Dupont addition, a cracking signing.

The 5”5” Canadian has junior experience in the QMJHL and Canadian USports University League.

The 26 year old didn’t play in 20/21.

Coventry have added 27 year old Dane Gibson to their blue line.

The Canadian is a first year pro having not played at all last season. Prior to that he spent the last three seasons at the University of Calgary. In the 2014-15 BCHL (British Columbia Hockey League?), Gibson scored an astonishing 32 goals and added 60 assists.

His signing completes the Blaze defence, and they still have a maximum of 4 players left to sign including a further Brit.
