With Devils as always likely to get great players, Giants tonight showing their intentions, we will certainly need to pull a few top players out of the bag to be there or thereabouts.

Matt Myers has been linked with a move to the NIHL’s Swindon Wildcats on a permanent basis.

Canadian & Italian dual-national winger Anthony DeLuca will ice with us for a 2nd spell in 21/22.

https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/1 ... ony-deluca

The 26 year old netted 28 times in 19/20 and will bring energy, passion & offensive work rate.

He’s iced 99 EIHL games for Sheffield overall.

He’s iced ECHL hockey for the Wichita Thunder, Brampton Beast & Alaska Aces.

In the Danish Metal Ligaen with Frederikshavn White Hawks.

And most recently he played in the German Oberliga with EHF Passau Black Hawks.

A player I am really pleased to see back, a good player excellent chemistry with his team mates , knows where the net is, a really good player, also a player that openly admits he can be better defensively and is willing to try harder to improve that side of his game and a great character on and off the ice. and above everything wants to be a Sheffield Steelers player and actively made sure he was..
To me Deluca as a great deal of what has been lacking in a few Steelers players in recent years and I for one welcome him back with great affection.. :point:

Lets hope the next guy in is Tanner Eberle, then as far as I am concerned we have a great core of forwards back in orange...

Great to see Eberle and Deluca back.
Where now for remaining import forwards? Do we go to Armstrong and sandstrom from our previous core, or do we look at more new blood?
I'm not sure that top three centres of Connolly, Hodgman and if we re-signed him, Armstrong, would give us the strength up the middle that we need to achieve that top spot

Energetic 27 year old winger Tanner Eberle is back in Orange for a 4th season.

https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/8 ... ner-eberle

The Canadian made the Elite Series All-Star side as well as being Tournament MVP, Best Forward, Too Pointscorer & Joint-Top Goalscorer.

The strong skating 5”11 wingman has iced 143 EIHL games.

In 19/20 he lead the EIHL in +/-.

He’s iced 176 ECHL games with the Allen Americans, Quad City Mallards & Jacksonville IceMen.

Also a handful of AHL with the Iowa Wild & Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

I’m very pleased with the signings and re-signings so far.

I’m not fussed about Armstrong returning if I’m honest and agree if he did we don’t have the strength up the middle.

Also the goalie is the key signing for me.

By my reckoning we’re looking like this, lines are likely wrong.

Eberle - Connolly - Vallerand
DeLuca - Hodgman - Dowd
X - X - X
X - X - J. Phillips

X - X
Saxrud-Danielsen - X
X - X

X
Churchfield

Our top six hasn’t been a problem under Fox it has been the bottom six taking charge defensively that has been our biggest issue, along with a lack of size.

Yeah cant disagree there.
Size and improving defensively will help significantly.
I like the snarl that ASD plays with. Wouldn't mind more of that!

I hope we go with 3 new imports on D to add on to Davey & Jones. The key there is getting some offensive jump but not at too much cost defensively I.e O’Connor or more recently Schulze.
