First off We've made great strides this season and regardless of where we finish we should definitely be in the hunt att he business end of the season.
It's looking more and more like we have to win all the remaining games against Cardiff if we want to take the title this season. Or they need to implode from the amount of games close together That's a big ask but we've had a couple of tight games vs the Devils so there's definitely a chance.

I'm not sure we can go all the way unless our injury curse is lifted ASAP.
Think we'll be in contention which is all I was looking for in our "bounce back" rebuild season after last year's disaster. Ultimately if we want trophies we'll need to start beating Cardiff. They'll be in the mix for all titles.
We have the talent to blow them away if we apply ourselves. As long as we defend well our offensive talent will do the rest as we saw last night.

I have to say that I have over the moon that we are even in the title race at all, considering the state PT left this club and the then stop gap less than ideal Tom Barrasso who steadied the ship only, I think Fox as performed nothing short of miracles at the club.
As far as I can see and understand from different things I hear also, Fox is learning some very important lessons from his first season in the EIHL and that he is aiming to take those lessons (on playing personnel) into next seasons team already and for me that is exciting news...

A very good point Jay. I've not found it very entertaining to watch though despite our excellent goal scoring ability. That's more a league as a whole issue for me though rather than just the Steelers.
Aaron deserves full credit though for turning the sunken ship around. Yes, we've had more than our fair share of injuries, but we've also brought in plenty of cover. We've not really been truly short-benched as some teams are. Didn't Fitzy have to lace em up recently for Glasgow?
Whilst I'm unlikely to be back at the arena any time soon, I hope Aaron continues the great work so far. I hope we manage some silverware this season.

I think silverware, even if it's just the challange cup would be a great turnaround season for the Sheffield Steelers... Yes times and hockey in Sheffield have changed, but the signs are their to me we still have the opertunity change with them but still keep a grity in your face never say die team identity..
Some won't be entirely happy but that's a rare occasion in the Steelers fan base at the best of times....

What Jay says about Fox learning about the league and what works here in an excellent point. I know he watched plenty but our league is so unique there's no substitute for the coaching experience and learning about the poor standards of officiating what types of players work here etc.

A top three finish would be a massive improvement on previous seasons.
If only we could find the magic formula to beat Cardiff. If we don't win the title but win either the CC (that's been a long time waiting) or the play-offs then that'll be absolutely fab for me. All about putting the building blocks in place.

On a positive note it cannot be underestimated that we have one regular season win in hand over Cardiff so if it came down to equal points at the end we would top the table.
[*]Robert
well this weekend has made it very tight if they win their games in hand. Cardiff long trip to dundee tonight home vs Notts Wednesday then back to Scotland Saturday for Fife and then Notts at home next weekend. tough week coming for the Devils. Wonder if they're feeling the pressure yet.
