Steelers goal! 4-6, Saxrud-Danielsen does Ehrhardt for pace then roofs it from a tight angle!

Steelers win 6-4!

Was a bit scruffy and horrible but it’s not how you win that matters, just that you win.

Very similar to the last Storm game which could’ve gone either way, this time we are the victors.

We shut up shop well and managed the game well after the 6th goal.

Sam Jones with his best performance so far, great general 2-way play, mixed it up physically after the Fortier hit & downed Long with a big hit in the 3rd.

A battling performance.

Good result, a bit of a stuttering performance.
Pretty similar to games against storm over the last year or so. We are a pretty hockey team and storm are well. The Storm!
Our issues are. Nitpicking here.
Churchfield not quite good enough. His deficiencies being covered by our firepower.
Still too many penalties. Although the refs were soft one way.
Our third/fourth line, apart from Hewitt ( putting up points), waller, showing good form, there isn't much else. Graham, Jono, Myers have been pretty average. Davey has been poor and exacerbated by his major tonight.
Maybe need to mix up the d pairings.

Well I really enjoyed that, how anybody can complain about the standard of the hockey is behond me, those calling it glorified exhibition games or a training camp are well wide if the mark and simply can't be watching the same hockey as me.

Yes there are mistakes plenty of them, but show me a league or season 6 games in where there aren't...

Four wins out of five for a back up netminder playing his first professional games. I'd say that's quite impressive. Really liking Sam Jones too, but for me the positive was different players tonight lighting the lamp.

3rd period was handled very well considering how much we were killing penalties.

All this surely shows what a good job Fox did putting this team together.

I must admit, before the series started and with only 8 imports I was concerned the games would glorified exhibition games.

However the two games I have watched so far couldn’t be further from my initial concerns. I’ve really enjoyed what I’ve seen so far and to me the quality on show seems better than last season, whether that’s because it’s been a long break in between last season and this tournament, or the quality of imports are better, I would suggest the latter.

Sounds like I missed a good bit of feisty ness for this one.

Well i have watched a good bit of hockey in my time going back at least 40 years and the entire existence of Steelers Hockey and even those that like to argue can't deny that fact.

And as a result I would like to think that it qualifies me to at least grade my own enjoyment of hockey and judging by the like minded friends, most of theirs match mine too. True we dont always see 100% eye to eye, but the principles of good hockey to me remain the same year on year.. and this (Steelers) current incarnation of the EIHL as given me as much if not more enjoyment that I can remember in a good while...

A run of 5 games now with not one game that disappointed me... :yeah:
