If it was a school report I'd probably give us a B or B-.

A couple of performances have been impressive, a couple poor and the rest ok.

We've won two of the games in OT/PS and they could easily have gone the other way. We've also had the benefit of a full squad in nearly all our games, unlike our rivals (Cardiff missing a few, Guildford missing a couple etc).

Balmas must have back ache, because without his contribution carrying the forwards we'd be in trouble. I don't want to name names, but I'm still waiting for a few players to turn up this season.

Like I said above, there's been both positive and negative so far, I'd say it's 50/50 between the two.

Regards

Honestly I don't know what some of you were expecting. They are hardly likely to be sticking the boot in, are they?
Why would they have to put the boot in, not exactly playing like the Flyers of last season are they?
A balanced, accurate take on what's been in front of them is all one would ask for.
The thing is we've played 7 competitive games, only lost 2 of them (better record than Nottingham and Cardiff), and are top of our CC group so a "balanced accurate take" is we're doing pretty well, which was broadly the vibe of the podcast. They did touch on coughing up goals to turnovers, to be fair.

Obviously if anyone was tuning in expect to hear any of the forum catchphrases like "boring Fox hockey" and immediate handwringing that we've lost a couple of games they will be disappointed.

What will be an interesting topic to message in with, once we've got enough gamesheet attendance figures to know, is whether or not attendances are down compared to last year.
The attendances in games like tomorrow against the supposed minnows will be a marker for sure.
Id say we are doing ok so far, a few decent showings, a few not so. Some of the new guys need to find their feet/step up, can't leave it to the few same guys week in week out.

So, I wonder what the Ice Line will be like this week?

Will the two Fife games be called out for what they were? (Poor performances) or will some excuses be made?

I will certainly be tuning in

If the show has any credibility it should address all the issues good and bad. Otherwise it’s just a spin exercise preaching to the assumed gullible masses.

I guess it will focus on getting two points , we were playing with injuries and the refs got it wrong. Oh , and Fife have improved beyond belief. The Emperor's new clothes comes to mind.

Getting them in and getting them answered are two different things

So who listened live? How did it go? Image
Where the obvious questions asked/answered?
Someone care to elaborate...

Well it was honest enough to a point. Foxy came on and didn't avoid or shirk the questions. Some of his answers made sense, he believes some new guys underestimate the league when arriving from Europe, the allowed overtime goal could have been called either way and the defence is not at fault for goals conceded as a result of turnovers by our forwards. He concedes that the pps and face offs are poor and need working on.
However he also went on about along string of what I would call “ Coach Jargon “ , about a dozen different strategies you should play in different circumstances within games. Frankly, it confused me ( doesn't take much ) but I wonder if the players are a bit confused by it too.
He said the league is no longer as physical as it was and although he lays no rules down about fighting he is aware that taking penalties for aggression would cost us.
Simmsy said Foxy is a decent bloke and he will not allow him to be hounded out like another decent bloke he knew some years ago, (I wonder who that was ) Rhetorical question!
Jonathan Fearnley was sensible in my opinion in his contributions.
He thought the disputed goal came down to the fact that although the refs disagreed , the call on the ice decided the issue.
Sorry if I have missed anything.

Decent bloke ?, they both are but that isn't what decides whether or not a coach in a professional sport keeps their job, results are what counts and that is what ultimately did for PT, what DS perceives as hounding took place only because he wanted to hang on to his mate past the point where it made sense for either the coach or the club. I'm not a fan of jumping ship part way through a season, Fox will be here for the rest of this one, then the owner has a hard call to make depending on the results.
