Interesting one this

Fife sign Cam Hough from Peterborough in the NIHL after his record breaking 64 goals last season.
Obviously too good for the NIHL and the boy can skate but lets see how he does with the higher standard

They seem to be pretty busy! I guess Wallace will have had a good look at the best of the NIHL over the last few years and will be hoovering up the talent. Fife could be interesting this year - for different reasons than last!

Peter Bates looks to be the most impressive new signing to the league so far.

A point/game in the ECHL over the last two seasons and on the ECHL All Star team a couple of years ago.

Not the best +/- last season, but very good the year before.

Still under 30 years of age and looks capable of 25 goals in our league, although as we've found numerous times, it doesn't always work like that (Patrick Grasso last season).

I hope we have somebody with a CV like this lined up, because we'll need it to topple Belfast.

Belfast always sign youngish top end ECHL players, Keefe’s scouting contacts for this league are second to none.

And it's quite clear to see what recruitment style has been most effective over the last 5 years. We had one very successful year, outwith of that we've been barely second best to the Giants.
I hope it's not more of the same this coming year.

Another one to add to the Belfast list:

Mason Klee - 26 years old.

All the new Belfast recruits are close to their prime.

Another consideration is building a core for the future.

The likes of Goodwin, Roach and Kawaguchi are multi season players with Belfast who Keefe builds his team around. When they move on, they'll want some new core players.

All the new Belfast recruits are of an age which could mean they're long term.signings if things work out for both sides.

We can't really look at the likes of Collins and Archambault in those terms.

A couple of things to note;

• it doesn't show on there which players are on 2-way contracts

• their data isn't always accurate or up to date (for example they list Giants as having 2 Jaeden Martins)

• I can't find an updated casebook for this season yet, but last year there was a maximum of 15 game day imports and a limit of total number of imports that could be signed during the season (20 maybe?)

• I'm sure the IR cover situation will be just as confusing as last year)

I find it interesting that we're due to sign just 2 more forwards and potentially a "swing" guy. That puts us at a smaller roster than Giants and Devils (who I think have 1 more signing to announce)

A couple of other interesting things; Coventry have yet to announce a Goalie, and Fife seem to be stacking up their defence!

I'd take those numbers with a pinch of salt, because they include some two-way players who are unlikely to see any ice time.

Belfast for example have 3 players who are with Milton Keynes. They'll play 95% of the time with MK and possibly get some limited ice time in a Belfast midweek game when MK aren't playing.

The big boys in the league will all generally be similar, with 6d + 12f and possibly a spare import.

Guildford seem to be quietly putting together a very good looking squad.

They've got two very good netminders and have just completed their d, which looks very good on paper.

Up front they have a top Brit in Waller and some fairly high scoring imports in Gosselin, Gresock and Neumann. If they can add to their Brits with Perlini, I'd fancy them to be challenging with the big 4.
