Let’s be honest we’re lucky still to have a 10 team league and I don’t want Fife to be whipping boys.
We disrespect them if we treat it like that and I was beginning to think we had. If we thought that then we’d get what we deserve and I thought it was beginning to look like that. Nevertheless a win is a win.

Was thinking maybe this season was a season too far for fife, just there to make numbers up and people would be happy with that, but that really is no good for them or the league. But if they can push steelers that hard then maybe there is a place in league for them but that is only one game. Hopefully they can get some results together and not just be there for sentimental reasons as it is a business after all
It's good that we've gone top of the league, but a little disappointing we made such hard work of a struggling Fife team.
With Glasgow beating Dundee tonight, I suspect we're also now top seeds in the Challenge Cup.
Plenty to feel good about tonight.
Regards

Were we anywhere near our best ?, nope. Were we good enough to win despite that ?, yep.
That's how you win a championship, it's not the pretty wins when everything is going well, it's the rescued point against a bottom of the league club when you stink out the place. One or two folk on social media need to remember that.

This. Last year we lose that game in OT/PS. Look back at last year and when we won, it was usually comfortable, but we didn't eek out those close games.mark wrote: ↑Sun Nov 02, 2025 11:05 pmWere we anywhere near our best ?, nope. Were we good enough to win despite that ?, yep.

Not at our best but gotta take the win.
I think that's spot on.ginger wrote: ↑Mon Nov 03, 2025 8:52 amThis. Last year we lose that game in OT/PS. I agree that with some of the teams of the past we may have lost this one. Doesn't matter how, it's the win that's counts and perhaps consider ourselves lucky.
I also hope we've learned a lesson or two IF we've taken them for granted.

Honestly think it was a combination of that, first time travelling Sheffield to Fife for some, hard game night before, Fife being up for it, and just a few bounces (so many passes that just caught a bobble off a stick/skate). Owen also had a great game.smbmetal wrote: ↑Mon Nov 03, 2025 10:49 amI think that's spot on.ginger wrote: ↑Mon Nov 03, 2025 8:52 amThis. Last year we lose that game in OT/PS. Looked like we were bullied from the highlights, with only Tremblay sticking up for himself. Diffley well beaten in the fight, but credit to him for giving it a go.
Thought Heard was supposed to be a bit of a hot head? He got shoved well after the whistle, but just stood and watched.
Of course only the final score matters.
I’m afraid I do struggle with Fox’s non contact hockey at times.

It's so not non contact hockey! It's just not getting out of position by attempting hits when stick on puck and wrapping the guy up is the better play.smbmetal wrote: ↑Tue Nov 04, 2025 9:51 pmHighlights: https://youtu.be/DSVJHwJWRvo?si=efVIdyhVQgesVxAS

Tansey literally went for 2 open ice hits earlier in the year, missed on both and led to odd man rushes. Harper has been crushing guys along the boards, and plenty of physical board play. But guys skate far to well these days and the lack of slowing guys up with hooks and holds now means it's way harder to land big open ice hits.
In terms of the pushback against Fife, there's an element of not wanting to get sucked in to their game - who does it benefit more if Heard fights Hunt (for example)? The guy who's a point per game player Vs Hunt who puts up more PIMs in a game than goals he'll score in a year? We're losing at that point so need to worry about getting level, not winning a fight that puts points scorers in the box for 5 min.
