New food and drink policy at Arena - apparently

Surely this is going to have an adverse effect on numbers attending Arena events. I imagine many parents for example will struggle to pay for the event itself. To add pricey refreshments on top could be too much and result in people staying away altogether. Such draconian measures seem very counterproductive and I wonder if more money will be lost than gained

would gladly buy my food and drinks there if prices were fair but NO WAY am going to pay their extortionate prices,,,,

I feel sure the Arena management will be installing more vending machines around the concourse so that the number of staff can be reduced

I think that maybe a bit of staff training may be in order too.. Because some of the over zealous behaviour from them is at the very best rude and actually more accurately described as disgraceful.
Making kids cry and parents fume over their people/customers interactions is not a way forward to keep your customers happy...

OK so tonight was a complete farce... At least two toe to toe arguments with arena staff ensued (not us) then us having to tip bottled water out on the slabs and take empty bottles into arena.. Last week we were told, it's only OK to bring pre sealed bottles of water.. We did just that has we were told and they made us tip it out and go to the bar kiosk to have them refilled!
I will gobsmacked literally.. if there isn't a serious altercation soon...
This has nothing to do with security has it? 100% pure profiteering at its worst.. The lady in front of me in a wheelchair had to tip out water and have all her tablets examined!
Disgusting behaviour from the arena if you ask me...

Are these new security rules down to the arena’s new owners then? I’ve only attended one game this season. A CHL game, which had long queues.

I must admit my concerns when the arena changed owners was more around getting prime ice time for weekend dates etc, not making you empty your y fronts out and pour out water on the slabs and confiscating of penny chews!

It does really sound over zealous and really not part of keeping people safe and secure.

I wonder if it’s been brought to Tony Smith’s attention? Maybe he could have a word?

I can't even begin to tell you the upset that Julie has been through tonight, she came straight from work via train and tram not car, and has such had her work bag and laptop in it.. She tried before entry to check it in at one of the security stations or receptions, of which they refused to do so, so she was recused entry to the game. And was told to take her laptop to Meadowhall and use the security lockers their a £8..She finally got in (her story to tell) by phoning a friend to come help her.. She was treated so poorly and was physically shaking and upset once she sat down next to us...
Surley for this over zealous policing of policy not to continue the arena needs to install security lockers for clusters to use during their visit...

One of the reasons we haven't gone to the game tonight is because of the hassle getting into the arena.
Watching the stream at home, comfy, warm and cheap drinks and food.
Not looking forward to going to Stalag Sheffield Arena for the next season ticket game.

BTW, your not allowed to bring in a tablet or laptop? How many mobile phones would you say were in the arena game days? Surley that is just a big a security risk, anybody with even a small understanding of such devices knows some phones have more than enough to processing power to match a basic laptop, and linked together could quickly become more than it's sum of separate parts

That's illegal behaviour from the arena staff under the Equality Act, a complaint should definitely be raised. Not just to the arena as they'd likely brush it under the carpet, but the Council and local MP as well.
