New food and drink policy at Arena - apparently

Same as old policy really:

Only food & drink purchased in the venue can be consumed in the Arena - an empty refillable plastic bottle can be brought into the venue (no more than 500ml) but no other food or drink is permitted.

I can think of a couple of legitimate exceptions that I don't see listed.

1. Baby bottles.
2. Diabetics who may need an emergency sugar source should their levels drop suddenly.

Other than that, are there any changes ?

Maybe if the Arena didn't operate a motorway service station pricing and quality policy and offered decent food vendors a chance to have a franchise within arena this wouldn't be such a issue. I think the pricing and percentage could be a great deal better and still recoup a similar income..

Just standard practice across most venues these days, screw the captive audience out of as much money as possible by excessive pricing and profit margins.

I agree totally... but don't the arena keep saying they want to be different and treat the customers to a new environment and better overall experience? It works in the states at the NHL and AHL arenas...

The arena was very strict and Somewhat persistent last night with wanding and bag searches, at one point refusing to let Mel take in baby bottles and warm water.. Until we pointed out they shouldn't really be allowed to do that...

They want to be as over zealous stopping people getting up and down during play as much as they with the searching of bags.

The trouble in the stands a few weeks ago which forced the club to put out an official statement is a failure from the arena security imo.

But you can take a lighter or a box of matches in which someone could use to start a fire and put thousands of lives at risk but you can't bring a bottle of water in that keeps you hydrated, some may need to take medication?

I was in that same postion when I had a ST, I'm on numerous medications, some which require taking at a certain time, so I took a drink in with me, on many occasions they 'threatened' to take it away and on every occasion I kindly said if I have a medical episode during the game it fall ill, I'll be sure to sue the arena & yourselves - that soon stopped them playing the big man & let me through.

I have absolutely no problem buying from the Arena should prices be more inline with what they should be, not the extortionate cost they charge.

Yes, if only they were so keen at replacing toilet rolls in the toilets and fixing toilets which have been broken for several weeks now.
Another thing that puzzles me is that the arena seating area is out if bounds to season ticket holders 5.30 p.m to 6 ( for a 7 face off ) but there are security stood outside each door. Why don't they stand inside and then people could go in ?
