End P2

Steelers 2-1 Flames

Cormier took a 2 min penalty for delay of game early in the period. That's his first visit to the penalty box this season

One for the purest do they call that type of game?

I get that we’re completely dead on our feet and Guildford were slightly short benched, but my goodness what a poor game at best. I’ve seen better exhibition games than this one.

But…….it is all about the W at the end of the day and a W that we certainly deserved. I’d be fuming if I was Paul Dixon though as Guildford offered very little. I’d have had my team set up to play physical in your face hockey against a very tired team. They looked more tired than us!

Well done lads, another win to keep the winning streak going. Hope there’s a few well deserved days off. Golod continuing to be the player of the season for me so far.

That was an effort to be proud of. I really thought we were out of the title race after Boxing Day, but the spirit of last season seems to have returned.

My personal stars tonight were Greenfield and Simpson. Greenfield because he offered Guildford nothing and Simpson because he was on all the key faceoffs and didn't disappoint.

I'm guessing Golod got motm and that would be thoroughly deserved.

Looking at the stats I'm surprised Watling was so strong on faceoffs, I can't say I saw it, but I'm not complaining.

A well deserved week off for the players to recuperate, let's kick on next week and put the pressure on those above us.

A proper 4 team title race.....fantastic for the EIHL.

Regards

Yep , not the most attractive game but given the schedule and particularly after playing Belfast last night I'll forgive them, three players down , Dowd, Whistle and Ulrick and it showed. On the plus side Golod and Juusola are playing well, Balmas is getting back to form along with Simpson and Leavens. They just shut everything down in the third period, probably had nothing left in the tank anyway but these are the games you have to win to go for a championship. I hope they get a few days off now.

Game On

Thats a big win for us and keeps the momentum going, must of been fatigued after that journey back last night. Greener seems to be back to his usual high standard. A weeks rest and hopefully we can now push on

I agree Greener’s back on form. He made a few regulation stops but there were also a few very good ones.

I think we were tired but managed the game well by not over committing. We absorbed their pressure well and looked sharper on the break than we have been of late. The signs are good.

I thought it was a tremendous performance considering recent form, Injuries and a disgraceful schedule. I actually thought we were too open in the third period and it was a bit helter skelter run and gun from one end of the ice to the other.
Lads need a good several days off to recharge their batteries.
The league really needs to look at the amount of games in such a short space of time the players throughout the league have had to play over the Xmas and new year period.
