Whistle did an unreal job when he came in. I didn’t vote for him purely because he left us in a bit of a pickle in the off season, but I’m sure he’d have done great things if he had been with us a couple years+
Whilst Whistle did a great job at Bracknell and Belfast, I was struggling to remember him doing the same for us. According to Steelerstats, he was in charge for 26 games, losing 13 and drawing 5, a win percentage of 31%. Whether he would have done great things is just speculation. Given his departure from Bracknell, and the way he took a large proportion of that team to Belfast, I have to say I have no time for the man, and that's leaving aside his untimely, unexpected departure from us.

We were failing hugely on and off the rink, we were something like 7th and hadn’t won an awful lot of games at all.

He took us over from Maxwell and immediately you could see the difference. Took us to 6th I believe and a playoff final (the only reason we lost that was becuase payette took out Lehman and laid on him while their player stuck it into an empty net!)

The reason why he doesn’t get my vote is because he left without basically signing a team with 6 weeks to go. Although I do believe he brought Jono in

I must say I can't remember a huge upswing performance wise. His win percentage was still very poor, in this case I think stats don't lie. Also he took over from a rookie coach who really had no idea about that side of the game. If a coach of Whistles standard couldn't raise the performance above that achieved by Maxwell, that tells me all I need to know.

Always thought Ronnie Wood was player/manager and Ron Shudra was player/coach until Alex Dampier came long.

So the the poll result is in...

and the top five are as follows:

Mike Blaisdell
Ben Simon
Gerad Adams
Aaron Fox
Alex Dampier

Maybe one or two surprises in the top 5 and a few talking points in the rest, like Ronnie Wood only getting 3 votes and Doug Christiansen getting a sympathy vote from @Nathan lol

With Dave Matsos just failing to get in the top five and coming 6th overall and our lord and Savior Paul Thompson getting one vote more than Ryan Finnerty :hey:

So i will open up the Poll again next week, to vote for our all time best coach, at this point,Mike seems a shoe in doesn't he, lets see who gives him a run for his money..

Interesting that Alex Dampier is low down. I guess that's because quite a few fans won't have seen any of the hockey under his tenure?

He will be 2nd on the list of Trophies won I would have thought compared to Blaiser? - Also won a grand-slam.

Not sure how Aaron fox can be above him TBH.

I think that there will be many current fans who will have no idea who Alex Dampier is, so it's unlikely they would vote for him. Some of us are in the fortunate, (or unfortunate in some cases😀), position of remembering all of our coaches - and even though the memory dims over time, there are certain incumbents I will never forget, for reasons both good and bad.

I'm confused by this result. I put my money on the “ Best coach we've ever had by a country mile “ . ..do you think Simmsy will reimburse me ?
