When you look at the video of this incident Balmas had dropped the puck back and was no longer in possession. There was ampul time to pull out of that hit. It was intended at best to intimidate and at worse to deliberately injure.

Far be it from me to criticise the stripeys we all think our club is hard done to, but these stripeys were awful. Itโs ok the clubs drawing in the crowds, BUT if the officiating isnโt up to the mark players will go to other countries, and so will the coaches. Please EIHL sort it out it is embarrassing some of the officials NEED to be reprimanded. No wonder coaches loose their temper the stripeys ARE NOT GOD. , ALTHOUGH WHEN THEY PUT THAT SHIRT ON THEY SEEM TO THINK THEY ARE

The clubs are the league, so if they are upset they can have a chat with themselves about it. This is the legacy of all these years focusing 90% of club budgets on just players. Yes you gradually get better and better ones in as a result, though the officials won't by magic improve likewise all by themselves. A bit more funds have to be diverted to invest into additional training and some improved pay. Plenty of part-time official systems in both Europe and NA that make things work to a decent standard, even the NCAA and ECHL use part-time officials to good effect. Clubs can't keep ignoring this, slowing down player investments just a little bit and sticking it into officials will provide a lot of benefits long-term.heathk01 wrote: โSun Nov 03, 2024 1:33 pmFar be it from me to criticise the stripeys we all think our club is hard done to, but these stripeys were awful. I think he got off pretty lightly to be honest. We obviously paid off DOPS just the right amount this time! :-Psmbmetal wrote: โTue Nov 05, 2024 12:28 pmJust a fine for Shudra.

As a Steelers fan I'll take that but I honestly expected around a three game ban, any alleged action by the Devils player at the other end of the ice should not be a factor so I'm really struggling to understand why no suspension.

DOPS have majorly messed up so far this year. Shudra should have got a couple of games for that. I actually thought they got the Ciampini one about right at 3 games, but they've made a mess of some others which then probably leads to Shudra getting a fine.
The 1 game ban on Catenacci for slew footing is a shocker - should be 3 games min given it's always a dangerous play. And not giving anything to Morrow for his retaliation was also poor - again, a game or 2 was probably required. Same with the MacWilliam hit on the Coventry player. Hebert probably should have got 1 game for the Balmas hit, but I'm ok with Daoust not getting anything further. It was a silly hit, but doesn't need anything more.
The problem is massive inconsistencies and not being bullish enough to give out a decent ban when needed

DOPS only consistency is that they are completely toss of a coin/inconsistent with their evaluation of these incidents.
Everyone blames first the refs, then DOPS, but these players know what they should or should not be doing. They need to be more self accountable for their actions and not carry out these dangerous plays.
Ciampini got what he deserved, Shudra should have got a game or two.

The only annoying thing is that either our fans or our club is getting the blame for the DOPS decision, if it's not "steelers run the league" then it's "steelers fans would be screaming for a life ban if it was anyone else", both statements are untrue, not that it stops them saying it but hey folks... we didn't make the decision.
