I enjoy a feisty game now and then but this is OTT. We don’t need players with shoulder injuries especially as it’s only for challenge cup points. We’ve got bigger fish to fry.

Storm can clearly play, why all the unnecessary rough stuff? Late checks, high checks, high sticks. I don’t think the whack on Cormier’s helmet was accidental either.

These officials seem to be struggling to keep up.

If I was a pro hockey player I'd be embarrased with these antics.

Yep, Manchester are goons and I am not defending them but our lack of a power play is allowing them to do it. :(

Let's hope Watling is ok but didn't look promising.

You’re right there’s no way this should be a 1 goal game

Edit: the goal posts have been rung about 4 times though.

A win but a dreadful loss of Watling. Hope he is not too bad but it looked awful.

Agreed Greeny, for most of the ISL I saw the Storm as bigger rivals than the Panthers.

That was driven by the Storm having better teams and bringing more supporters to the Arena than Nottingham. The Panthers became a bit of an irrelevance during the ISL, if we wanted to compete for silverware it was he Storm we needed to beat.

It was a real shame how it all fell apart for Manchester, but I guess their success was built on much shakier foundations than ours.

I wasn't at the 18,000 game, but I do remember the first playoffs in Manchester when there were around 13,000 in attendance, of which 4,000+ must have been Steelers. I still maintain that was the biggest travelling support in British hockey history.

Memories of the Cathedral Arches pub, the best ever hockey pub. I remember going for a beer before the first semi final and it was a real shambles. The staff couldn't cope with the numbers and customers were getting irate. For the 2nd game they sorted themselves out with a bottle bar with all drinks £1......they sold a lot of bottles.

I remember being told they lost thousands when the ISL/EIHL forgot to book the arena in time and lost out to the Teletubbies. That's when the event moved to Nottingham and became more expensive.

Hey John, long time no see.

The game tonight felt a bit like Slap Shot. Manchester knew they couldn't live with us playing 5 on 5 hockey, so tried to mix it up and put us off our game.

Quite disgraceful really, but at least we got what we deserved which was the 2 points. Hopefully Watling won't be out for long.

Regards
