Was surprised to see Greenfield get both games.
Understand why he would have played on the banner raising night, but thought Fox would let Marco have this one.
No point in having an import goalie if we’re not going to play them in the lesser CC games.

Minor change to this. The result now means we cant be 100% regulation wins in the group stage so that Belfast will likely have home advantage when it comes to head-to-head records.

Which illustrates the absurdity of the new cup system.Firefox1001 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 11:25 amMinor change to this. The result now means we cant be 100% regulation wins in the group stage so that Belfast will likely have home advantage when it comes to head-to-head records.
My view of the Saturday goal is that the puck was played before the goal came off the moorings, in which case I believe if the puck goes where the goal should have been it’s a goal.

I can see why Fox was baffled by this game.
Really don’t understand how Coventry’s goal stood when the net was off its moorings for 5 minutes.
Not sure Simpson’s penalty is 5 minutes either.
Some sloppy play at times from us though.

Goal is a refs discretion call - they felt on the night that there was a imminent goal scoring opportunity - which is now the wording on the ruling (changed a little bit ago, where it was only in process of trying to save initial shot). It's a more debatable one - some refs would give, some wouldn't.
Simpson major is fine as a call. Tallbergs you don't really get a decent angle to view, but if two handed, then you always run the risk of a major (one handed slash could also be, but would need to be particularly nasty). Nothing I can see in rule wording around that but I suspect that will be taken in to consideration on calls - I certainly would when reffing.
Interesting point to probably be aware of, if theres a refs review of a call, then they've called a major, as that's the only way a refs review can happen. So call on ice is a major, that may get downgraded to a 2, or a game added if needed.
