Not to take away from the game thread but was this the greatest ever win when measured against the quality of the opponent ?, and is it the best result ever by an EIHL team, again measured against the quality of opposition.
I'm struggling to think of anything that might equal this.

I've always rooted for the EIHL teams in the CHL, I think the 5-2 home win vs Red Bull was pretty special but the fact an EIHL team has gone to a top end Sweedish team and won in their barn, that has to top it all.
I certainly think it's up there Mark, when you consider the quality of the opposition and the fact it's in their arena after a tough travel schedule.
I think what makes it even more impressive is that this wasn't a smash and grab, the stats suggest we deserved it.
Maybe a win in our past when we were incredibly short benched is more impressive, but I really didn't fancy our chances in this one.
We really do have a special group who seem to be continuing where they left off.
Regards

I was absolutely shocked to see the last two results tbh, but this win was incredible and I’ll be curious to see how you match up at home. The European hockey world will certainly take note and it’s great you have put the EIHL on the map. I couldn’t be happier for your club.
The interesting thing will be if other European clubs come after some of your players, it’s a big shop window and I wonder if a few teams will target a few of your guys with lucrative offers.

This is why I want to see the Steelers play in the CHL. Yes, it puts our coach and players in a shop window, but you know what? It puts the Sheffield Steelers in the very same window to potentially attract better players etc.
Bring on Sparta Prague.

Does last nights win at home to Skelleftea top the away win at Vaxjo?

In terms of relative sizes/standings of teams, probably.BontSteeler wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2024 11:30 amDoes last nights win at home to Skelleftea top the away win at Vaxjo?
However I'd actually say the wins against Vaxjo and Sparta were more impressive when you see the game sheets and who was and wasn't playing. We essentially beat a AIK B team yesterday, albeit that is still probably higher quality on paper. Vaxjo and Sparta were both against near enough full rosters, so for me would be better wins
I personally thought it was disrespectful from AIK only bringing a 2nd string side.ginger wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2024 12:28 pmIn terms of relative sizes/standings of teams, probably.BontSteeler wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2024 11:30 amDoes last nights win at home to Skelleftea top the away win at Vaxjo?

Still, gave us a better chance to win, so I hope the 2 teams in the remaining games do the same!

They have a large injury list apparently, and a couple at NHL camps, so not really disrespectful. Virtually the same roster beat Pelicans from Liiga on Friday.smbmetal wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2024 3:25 pmI personally thought it was disrespectful from AIK only bringing a 2nd string side.ginger wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2024 12:28 pmIn terms of relative sizes/standings of teams, probably.BontSteeler wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2024 11:30 amDoes last nights win at home to Skelleftea top the away win at Vaxjo?
