That’s not too bad for our first properly competitive game.

Think Vakjo may be a tougher opponent but heads high after that one.

That commentator got money for old rope.

Game On

all in all a decent first game for steelers, hopefully now they can kick on having had some game time under their belt and some confidence that they can give opponents a run for their money

Not even exaggerating, but that second period is one of the highest quality levels of hockey I've ever seen a Steelers team play. Fribourg are one of the favourites to win the whole thing and the boys absolutely matched (and had slightly better of) them.

Unbelievable effort against a very high quality team. I suspect tomorrow will be harder as will the rest of the games - other teams will have seen they can't take us lightly if they want to win.

Also a note on Janutainen - best I've seen from him yet and started to really get his feet moving. Also seemed to be starting to build a bit of chemistry with Champ and Simmer.

I'll hold my hands up, I wasn't expecting much last night but when we went 2 up I thought blimey can we cause an upset and got a bit giddy.

I can not praise these guys high enough, in previous CHL games we've been battered but boy did we give it a right old go.

I was bit gutted for Tansey with the bobble of the puck but that was one sexy move by their player on Greenfield to make it 2-2 (I think it was)

These boys will get a win in this CHL this year, I really would not be surprised if we got a coupla wins.

Keep it up Steelers.

I didn't watch the game, but have to say that's a very good effort against a team with a budget similar to Belfast's. 😀

I was following the game stats on the CHL website. After we went a couple up, it looked like the ice was very tilted towards Greenfield. I don't think we had a shot on target for around 15 minutes and couldn't buy a faceoff win.

Second period though it looks like we turned things around. We started getting more shots and winning faceoffs.

I didn't check the final figures, but I know well into the 3rd period we were slightly ahead on the likely win percentage, which says a lot about how we played. Whilst Fribourg were having a lot more shots, we were clearly having our shots in more dangerous areas.

I can't see us getting a point out of this group, with the quality of opposition we're up against, but in the past a team like Fribourg would have beaten us by 4 or 5.

A very good effort by all concerned.

Regards
