Cardiff's roster is complete. Announced 4 tonight....Shinkaruk, MacWilliam, Gourley and Duke.
Shinkaruk especially looks impressive, Cardiff looking pretty damn strong at the minute on paper.

Fife sign Johnny Curran from Coventry
If we get his first time Coventry production this is an outstanding signing and Coolen has already said he will be top 6 for us
It does look as if we will have scoring and threat on all our lines
It will be our lack of depth that will kill us again though

Belfast sign yet another player who should be capable of 25 goals.
In terms of goal scoring, both from the forwards and defence, Belfast are absolutely stacked and way ahead of anybody else. Defensively though, who knows, maybe the offensive ambitions of their team might leave them a little exposed at the back.
One thing is certain though, they've thrown a fortune at their squad, so I don't want to hear them whining about others spending if they don't win trophies.

They do look stacked, but there's also a few questions there. Bast is one given he's effectively not played at anything close to this level in over a year. Goaltending is another - Whistle was good back end of the year but there was a few signs that form dipped at the WC. McCollum has good pedigree but is now at back end of his career.Doom wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 5:52 amBelfast sign yet another player who should be capable of 25 goals.

Also given how stacked they look in the forwards, they will not all score to their top potential. Osterberg will be 3rd line, so will be getting nowhere near the minutes he played for Fife. As such I suspect he's more in the 15 goal area than the 25 you would have expected him to get had he remained a top line player.
They've definitely chucked the kitchen sink at it, but I'm looking forward to seeing how we stack up against them. Conway is in for a much harder time against Tansey, Diffley etc than he was against Schulze, Phillips et al we had last time he was in Belfast
I was discussing this with my mate last Saturday night.
He thinks they've got quite a few powerplay specialists on their d, but as he pointed out, they can't all play the powerplay.
We also said more or less the same as you've pointed out, that some players who were the go to guys like Osterberg will end up with less ice time at Belfast and therefore reduced output.
My gut feeling is they will be top scorers in the league by some distance, but I also think they'll probably concede more than us.
If our final signings are as rumoured, I like our defence as much as last season. Playing against that Belfast forward line will be a huge test and should be fun to watch.
It's shaping up to be a very exciting season ahead, I just hope the arms race which appears to have developed doesn't leave some teams behind.

Me too, but I wonder if Fox will use Diffley against him. He seemed to get all the key individual assignments last year and was so good at shutting guys down.paul johnston wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 12:49 pmI'm very much looking forward.to the match up between Tansey and Conway.ginger wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 9:43 amThey do look stacked, but there's also a few questions there.
