Ive been around hockey a good few decades now and while I do trust the couches judgement, I have also learned to judge my own gut, my understanding of stats and then my own eyes, i am often proved wrong happily, but at the same time I am very often spot on with my initial assessment.. :wonder:
Me too. I've not seen either play live or on tape, so it's all guesswork but when they're playing at a higher level than the EIHL, stats become less reliable - what role have they been playing, how many minutes, how high scoring is the league generally? Without that knowledge, I see it as potentially getting a player who's been playing at a higher level and should therefore be a bit ahead of where our league is on average. If that's not exciting, I don't know what is
Interesting maybe, but exciting no it really isn't.. Winning a grand slam and all that entails is exciting, watching a game live is exciting, reading player stats and prospects is interesting at best... Younger Ex Ahl or NHL players may get the juices flowing a little more though... :zip: :Smiled:

Liiga is better than the AHL in standard! I'll accept Miceli is more of a waiting and see (and based on who he replaces), but Janatuinen is definitely exciting.

It's not superior insight, just I can't get my head around not being excited by a player who probably barring his injury, we would never have gotten even a sniff of playing here.

You don't have to get your head around it, that the beauty of a open forum like ours, we are All allowed differing opinions, without needing to get our head around the one you don't necessarily agree with...

Heard Watling and Diffley both returning. Not sure how reliable, but crossing fingers!

Hope they are both true. Watling is wonderful to watch. Diffley is steady and inventive

As posted in another thread, spare import forward rumour I've heard is Sam Tremblay from Manchester. He's recently started following Steelers on Instagram too....
