Wouldn't have been my choice for a PSF. Would rather try a decent European side (depending on availability) for a good test ahead of the CHL.
But then again, that's my thought.
Bet the estate agent thinks otherwise...

Like all these things it's money. We'll be shelling out a lot for the Swiss games (hotels etc are ridiculous over there), and having a euro team come over for friendlies probably costs us more than playing an EIHL team. So then question is do you make more money by bringing over a euro team rather than playing an EIHL team, and/or do you gain more for the players? If not, the smart business choice is to play an EIHL team.TealSteeler wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 9:29 pmWouldn't have been my choice for a PSF. It might not be what fans want ideally, but if it doesn't make much difference to either revenue or on ice success during the season, then why do it?
I know Simms is marmite and can be daftly antagonistic for seemingly no reason, but I do sometimes understand why there can be some exasperation when he's been at the coal face when we've gone through some of the really bad times, and fans would probably make the same decisions in the business that they work in.
Pre season I don't care about except for it being in line with what the coach believes is necessary to get the team prepped.
Personally I'm fully in favour of us playing Panthers pre-season.
The financial reasons are a big part, as mentioned above by Ginger.
I also think it would be good to ease ourselves in against a team at a similar level to ourselves, rather than spend a game chasing shadows against better quality opposition who have had more of a pre season.
We're going to get an opportunity to see 'different' teams when the CHL starts.
Bring on Herr and Co.
