We are still coming to terms with the awful accident on Saturday night. Our thoughts are with Adams partner and family, his team mates and those on the ice who worked so hard to save him. God Bless.

Been busy all weekend so I wasn't at the game. I still haven't seen the video of the incident and honestly I hope I never see it.
Like everyone else my thoughts are with Adam's family, friends and the entire Panthers origination. Rivalries can and should always be put to one side following tragedy.
Thoughts are also with the Steelers players especially Petgrave. Had the misfortune of scrolling through Twitter last night and came across a small section of abuse being targeted at him which has included racial abuse. Note that a lot of the abusive tweets have been coming from accounts that follow no hockey accounts or have even tweeted about hockey before this weekend. I had to delete twitter last night as I couldn't bear seeing anymore.

Well I've read Bob W's article in the Star explaining why he posted on Twitter what he did but I am astounded to see there is no apology for those he caused distress to by his post, intentionally or not he clearly did do so and the fact he deleted the post shows he was aware of it. No apology, no contrition. We are all human and can make mistakes, apologising afterwards when we do so is important.

My thoughts are still driven by what I saw on the live stream, my heart goes out to the Johnson family and all those who were involved during that horrible incident on Saturday.
How these players from both sides and the wider hockey community will react to this I just don't know, it may be that some players now question their continued involvement in the game, I just don't know!
Trying to come to terms with how I would react? but I can't imagine what Matt Petgrave is going through, wouldn't surprise me if he went home to be with his family at this time.
Hope I never ever see an accident like that again!!
Retire his shirt and put it behind the away block at the arena!

I've just read the article myself and my interpretation is that he justifies his actions by saying that he's just doing his job as a "purveyor of news" and 'former Steeler players, an ex Steelers' coach, long-time fans and staff at The Star and other newspapers' contacted him directly to agree with him. He even goes on to say that other people released footage of the incident. again justifying his actions.mark wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 10:51 amWell I've read Bob W's article in the Star explaining why he posted on Twitter what he did but I am astounded to see there is no apology for those he caused distress to by his post, intentionally or not he clearly did do so and the fact he deleted the post shows he was aware of it. Poor excuse Mr Westerdale. I'd argue as a "purveyor of news" with 30 years experience you should know better than to post photos of incidents immediately.
For me, no matter how minor or major an incident, yes, report on it as your job, but just hang fire posting pictures at least until the full situation has presented itself.
They'll not be an apology Mark, as he doesn't think he's done anything wrong. The rest of my comments aren't suitable for a family forum
