Why? What’s your reason?Nathan wrote: ↑Sat Feb 29, 2020 10:10 amNo.The Technician wrote: ↑Sat Feb 29, 2020 8:02 amYou wouldn’t have De Luca back?Nathan wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 9:24 pmWho I think will be back and who I’d have back are two different questions I suppose as it’ll be down to personal circumstance etc
Eberle,
Troncinsky,
Hrabel would be definite.
Duba? Maybe but I’d like to think a younger import goal tender would be the way to go.
Vallerand and Connolly (if he does indeed class as an import) absolutely.
The rest I’d like to think we can upgrade upon.
*Edit*
Forgot about Sandstorm, he’s really impressed in recent weeks. I’d keep him on also.

We need to improve the collective d, and by that I mean not just the d Corp but also the forwards who can contribute defensively. Our fragile defensive record at times has been due to a failure of the five man out skater unit doing a good defensive job. Losing Meland can't be underestimated at the business end of this season.
We need to find some centres. Apart from Armstrong we haven't really had natural centres especially since ditching MSP early doors. The balance of forwards-position wise and style of play wise not been right.
I would expect 3-5 new import forwards.
2 new import D. Natural wastage and need more defensively aggressive players.
New import nettie. We need a true stud number one. Duba has done a great job at times.
Keep-
Vally
Eberle
Deluca
Lemty
Connolly
Tronc
Hrabal
Sandstrom. No.
Armstrong. Maybe.
Kolehmainen no.
Davies. No.
AJ. Will retire I think.
Brock. No.
Liwing. No.
Bettauer. Only back because second year of uni deal.
Duba no.

I think a solid 80-90% of steelers would have Deluca back... I thoight he was on a 2 year deal anyway?

The only one I'd disagree with is Sandstrom, who has improved through the season and would be a good 3rd line.paul johnston wrote: ↑Mon Mar 02, 2020 7:57 amWe need to improve the collective d, and by that I mean not just the d Corp but also the forwards who can contribute defensively. A little confused, is this thread for imports that we think will be back rather than what we want back? Seems to be a mixture of responses?Jarv wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2020 4:58 pmOk, It's not whether you want them back or not but who do you think will be back next season.
I reckon these 10 Imports will be back
10 Tanner Eberle
15 Anthony DeLuca
19 Michael Davies
28 Lucas Sandström
63 Brendan Connolly
90 John Armstrong
8 Marek Troncinsky
42 James Bettauer
97 Josef Hrabal
70 Tomas Duba (only as backup/1b netminder)
the rest will either be cut, retire or get much better offers elsewhere.
So I think who will be back (not who I would want back, that would be a small list).
10 Tanner Eberle - I think he will look at other options, we were clearly not his number one choice when he re-signed this year.
15 Anthony DeLuca - I think he will be back.
19 Michael Davies - Move on or retire.
28 Lucas Sandström - Could move on - good chance of him being back.
63 Brendan Connolly - Really not sure, think he will sign for another year.
90 John Armstrong - year two of his contract?
8 Marek Troncinsky - will look for other options.
42 James Bettauer - will look for other options.
97 Josef Hrabal - will look for other options.
70 Tomas Duba (only as backup/1b netminder) - retire.

He's going to be the spare import next year. Fox obviously doesn't rate him having sat him for weeks now.Jayboy wrote:I won't , if he wants to explore his options elsewhere then I would let him..

Well, I really have no idea which imports from our current team will be icing for us in September. What I do know is that I am excited to see the team Fox puts together. The quality he recruited this year was a vast improvement on the imports from last year. With a year under his belt and a far better knowledge of the EIHL, I’m looking forward to seeing the 2020/21 Steelers.
