See i'm also looking in to the "experienced" side of things a little and have seen that Jeremy Williams isn't signed as far as we know for next season.
He sort of fits the whole been there done it all when you're talking about the "fascinating" career and still productive at the ripe old age of 39.. Which to many (including myself) may not be the best move. :peek:

3 names that come to mind;

1. Jeremy Williams - Of the 3 i've listed, may be the most likely.
https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/1 ... y-williams

2. Alex Hutchings - Doesn't fit the entire mould of the Star story, but is an experienced winger with a solid CV. (probably more so because he was on my watch list for this year)
https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/1 ... -hutchings

3. Lance Bouma - Easily the biggest stretch of the 3 and probably just a name i put in as he's un-signed as far as we know. Also unlikely he'd be top 6 as he's not really been the most productive player since 2014 in the NHL.

Just based off the clue from the star, I've looked at last year's KHL players ( fascinating career line makes me think KHL but obviously could be wrong). Apart from Calof who I mentioned earlier, the other 2 that could be possibles would be Ethan Werek and Josh Ho-Sang.

None showing as signed anywhere, all fit the clue.

Feel like a lot of other leagues Denmark/Alps etc, we would be looking at high point scorers and vast majority of those now seem to have contracts for next season.

Could be completely off base, and probably am. But feel it will be someone who's stats look low, but will have been playing at a much higher level
I believe the player alluded to was Lessio and we’ve lost out. He fit the description perfectly and the signing deadline that was given by the club coincidentally coincided with his transfer to unknown initially. I’d wager they will be some sort of statement released by Bob or the club on the matter.

We will probably end up with someone like this guy

A lot of fans would say well he’s a great signing but a bit of research would tell you he’s a specialist defensive forward that excels on the penalty kill not the 25 goal winger we need.
See I disagree there, I don't think Fox would be looking at a defensive forward, regardless of level played at. Might be wrong, but just get the feeling we'll be pleasantly surprised and will be similar to Watling level

I wouldn't necessarily be upset with any of those. Williams age a slight concern but he's consistently scored at a high level the last 2 years so doesn't show major signs of drop off (DEL 2 is still very much a good league)

The concern for me is that the player in question was going to be on an MBA course, so we're effectively getting more bang for our buck.

If it was Lessio, how easy will it be to find a similar quality player wanting to do an MBA? - I guess the pool of players is quite limited.

We may have to sign somebody without using the MBA carrot, but that probably means lower quality.

Hopefully it wasn't Lessio and we have a player signed up and ready to go.

Interesting one, as thinking about the winter Olympics and why DeLuca went to Italy, I've noticed a few others who appear to have done the same. I wonder if this is why Lessio has signed in Bolzano - potentially qualify for Italy. If that is the case, we might never have been in for Lessio at all

I'd snap your hand off for Williams.

I know I've often expressed concern about ageing players, but it's usually because their points production is rapidly in decline.

In the case of Williams, there doesn't appear to be a rapid decline, so I'd put him in the mould of David Ling.

How about Welsh, not sure if playing for the panthers counts as interesting 😁

Yep a good incentive to join Bolzano.
If you go back to Aaron’s statement he says the player in question was also exploring all hisoptions this could of been one of those options

Sorry if this has been posted but just seen on the Steelers twitter feed -

5 signings to confirm - 4 new faces.

So reading that, I'm guessing the guy rumored on here wasn't the guy we've been after??

That is my feeling - as that to me reads as all are signed. Which suggests it wasn't Lessio that we were waiting on. Also fits in as suspect a few teams were probably looking at DeLuca but he'd made it pretty clear he wanted to go to Italy. My guess is Lessio was similar situation.
