Znedek Dolezal Czechia to Sheffield

Anything solid on this rumour? Not seen it elsewhere.

I'd question the drop off in points, as he scored really well in the top Czech league 2 years ago, which suggests we probably would not have been able to afford at that point, but drop off might explain why we can now. Could be a variety of reasons but definitely a question mark. 2 seasons ago I'd have snapped your hand off to get him

None of these recent forward rumours excite me at all.
They won’t excite you mate you get what you pay for, we couldn’t even manage to secure the signature of an ageing David Morley after 7 seasons in Norway, a league that pays less than our own, what chance do we have of getting up coming players with good resumes from ECHL.

IMO the old excuse from Club representatives that these kind of players don’t want to come to the EIHL is a moot point considering both Belfast and Cardiff recruit good players from this League. We’ve managed to sign an average stat player who happened also to be injured last season, on the cheap. How far we’ve fallen.

When was the last time we signed a point per game player direct from North America?
Morley might be 32 but he scored at roughly 1.5 PPG last year in Norway and has always been above 1 PPG in each of his seasons there. He isn't going to be cheap
No he’s not going to be cheap which is kind of my point. We can’t or won’t make the signings we need to succeed

Or we lost out to an offer that we couldn't afford. Or maybe money wasn't the only factor? There's a number of reasons players choose different options and money isn't always the only consideration.

New signing tomorrow, sounds like someone new rather than any returnee, so I'm guessing Juusola.

Although as a big wish, but highly doubtful (think probably off to DEL) is Max Zimmer - confirmed today as leaving Vienna Capitals.

Juusola or Saucerman maybe? Although I hope it’s the 1st Line Center that the steelers twitter account said they had signed the other day (Hopefully it’s not Allen on the first line C).

Saucerman is the other potentially. Feel like they'll announce the 2 goalies together.

If Allen did return, I'd be shocked if he's 1C. My guess would be him/Neumann/Ciampini as 2nd line. Vallerand on top line with 2 new players. 3rd line of Dowd/Simpson/Kielly and 4th of Shudra/Whistle/Juusola.

Personally I wouldn't have too much of an issue if the 2 new top liners look like they are genuine top liners.

Allen line would be a great second line, plus Allen was a top penalty killer, which with losing Jono, could be a good bonus

I'd be OK with this, if like you suggest, the two 1st liners are top players in our league.

I'd be really concerned if Kristo comes back, because he was one of those who fell away badly in the 2nd half of the season. I've just had a look at his game log and he scored 6 goals in 31 league games in 2023.....that's poor.

Allen was much better, he scored 13 in 31 which was a slight drop off, but nothing dramatic.

His numbers are a bit all over the place, but I'm happy enough with this.

Last season his goal scoring dropped off, but he put up a good number of assists in a decent league.

The season before in the ECHL using my calculations I'd probably have him down for 35+ goals.

Taking all of it into account, I'll say a 25 goal a season player on average, which I'm happy with.

He also looks strong on his +/-, which suggests he's solid defensively.

Happy to have this chap as a 1st line center.
