Didn't catch the game, but you don't get any freebies against a Keefe side. Must've earned it.

I was told emphatically that that was a major part of the reason, absolutely no excuses given but a decent percentage of the team have been leaking from both ends apparently... :oops:Octopussy wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 6:59 pmAn excellent weekend for us with maximum points against two good teams.
I said to my mate that I do wonder if the drop off in form the previous weekends was virus related.
We know both Duba and Vally had been sick and it wouldn't surprise me if others were less than 100%.
Nothing we can do about the lost points, we just have to go on a good run of form now and hope that will be enough to get us over the line.

I think I have mentioned it before but I dont believe what ever happens it will, given we were not expecting to be anywhere near this position anyway, and by that I just mean I wont be haunted about a bad weekend when the season as a whole has far outweighed my expectations by a good distance...Greenbunch257 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 6:52 pmGood battle. Round out a 4 pt weekend. Hope last weekend doesn't comeback to haunt us. Still we can only keep winning our games. The rest is in the lap of the gods. We'll done guys..

Absolutely Jay. Like I've said elsewhere, I didnt expect us winning anything this season. I expected it being a building season. So it's a great effort this year by this side. So if it does come back at the end I will not be holding last weekends lapse against them. Certainly not.Jayboy wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 7:36 pmI think I have mentioned it before but I dont believe what ever happens it will, given we were not expecting to be anywhere near this position anyway, and by that I just mean I wont be haunted about a bad weekend when the season as a whole has far outweighed my expectations by a good distance...Greenbunch257 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 6:52 pmGood battle. A battling win against a combative Belfast side. I thought defensively we are collapsing around Duba better than earlier, though clearing our own zone did prove more difficult than it should have been.
To get a 4 point weekend against two of the top four is an impressive return, particularly with 10 scored and only 3 conceded.

Slight thread drift, but I would rather win the Challenge Cup than the league.
It’s the one Jonno hasn’t won yet and I’m not sure we need the distraction of the CHL next year as we continue rebuilding.

I am never really sure about our jaunts into Europe myself either... I certainly get the attraction and welcome it if we had the squad to cope, but I am not entirely sure any EIHL team really does..
Out of interest what is the official line coming from the club about the CHL, because it really cant be over looked that we tend to come back from that competition with less than we went in with, in terms of fitness and morale..
As a club can we graciously decline and pass it on to someone else if we wished to?

Well we thoroughly enjoyed the game. Hotly contested, fast, very physical and with plenty of demonstrations of skill. When you look at the price of a ticket that was fantastic value. A pity the programme has again started its childish attack on supporters but otherwise well done Steelers.

Club are all over the CHL. It's one of the pinnacles of European ice hockey and allows us to network with contacts as well as play the best Europe has to offer. Also a very attractive recruitment tool in the off season.Jayboy wrote:I am never really sure about our jaunts into Europe myself either...
