Can we really afford to let this situation with Ostlund carry on? If Greenfield gets injured we dont have a second decent backup. Surely we need to sign a second top netminder now?

Does make you wonder why after 3+ months we haven't released the guy if he's not going to be available to play.

This must be the freakiest injury the Steelers have ever had in their history!??

You'd hope that after 3 months he must be close to getting a game at some point?

Really hope we don't end up burning Greenfield out as he will certainly need to be at his best in the New Year.

We will still be 5 points behind Guildford even if we win our game in hand, so have some work to do to catch them.

What's the cost of him being here? How are we managing to pay his wage and carry 2 spare skaters too?

I could be wrong, but I don't think a team can release a player just because he's injured, it certainly wouldn't make a club look good from a players perspective.

With regards to pay, who knows if players are covered by "injury insurance" or something similar.

That being said, I'm not sure it makes financial sense to have a player on the books for half a season and barely play a game...

Folk certainly can't complain that Tony Smith isn't backing Fox.

Normally injured players wage is covered by insurance, hence in theory freeing up cap space.

In reality even if say he were fit and game ready, when is he going to play???

Tonight? Maybe but when was the last time he skated competitively?

The fact that he wasn't chosen to play for his team last season makes this a very odd story.

I dont feel we have had the full story on Ostlund... I feel they are sitting on part of the story and find it hard to fathom why we dont get injury updates or the very least a regular progress report on his likely comeback... the time and games he as missed as a Steeler player is not as insignificant as the Steelers Management seem to spin it!! :wonder:
