Why? I get the feelings and sentiment, but surely the weekends sporting events are the perfect place to show ones own and clubs respects with organised mourning and silences with lots of gathered people around the UK...Joesteeler wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 8:49 amAfter the tragic news we heard yesterday, I'm not sure this will be going ahead now

I agree, I'm hoping we're still on, but the mourning period states no sporting events until after the funeral. I'm not sure if this has recently been alteredJayboy wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 9:51 amWhy? EDIT: Just discovered I have this wrong - it appears sporting events are cancelled on the day of the funeral.
I would have thought we would have already seen a statement from the Steelers if the game was off?
I'm sure suitable respects will be given at the game if it goes ahead.
Changing the subject and looking at the poll there's not a lot of faith in our our fanbase for a victory.
I still think we'll win in regulation.

Very much surprised there's nothing on the EIHL following the death of the Queen, just about every other sporting association has been paying tributes to her.

That's because for the most part our own fan base are not stupid and know ice hockey and in particular Sheffield Steelers style of play..smbmetal wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 10:26 amI would have thought we would have already seen a statement from the Steelers if the game was off?

We have watched the games and called it the way we see it, based only on what we have witnessed up to this game...
It fits the Steelers Social media agenda to label us keyboard warriors, moaners and idiots because it means when they win a game they then have a body of fans to throw dirt at...
Yet year after year, season after season and coach after coach, we the fans are proved right retrospectively via interviews and Star articles etc that come to light with news that a great deal of time that we all shouted about well before the coach, club or media gurus ever admitted..
Does it mean we will lose? NO of course it doesn't, but the already obvious and realistic faults and frailties in the side are there for all but the most blinkered fan to see.

I respectfully disagree. Pre season games are never just about fitness and game time, systems, personalities, tactics and line combinations all come into it, I think the way we played only a week ago over 2 games can at least in some part point to our style of play and of course the players performance and how we are likely to play against cardiff and Guildford. Maybe not the intensity levels or the actual fitness of each player, but certainly the overall shape and look of the team, coupled with that, many of us have seen Cardiff play too...
I would agree it doesn't guarantee anything, but when predicting any game outcome you have to use something to help make your prediction, only someone with a great deal more info than any of us could argue with a simple guess...

I'm afraid I agree with mark here, preseason gets the team into habits that will continue through the season. If they play rubbish it will carry on and will rarely be relinquished. Not saying they are bad but the defence just isn't defensive enough. Hopefully they can fix that.
Afternote: My brother saw Fox at subway earlier lol
Is it bedtime yet
