Blaze double header this weekend before the season starts officially at home to the Devils on the 10th September.
Sounds like Connolly will be playing in this series so that will mean (unless we have any injuries already) that we can only play one import goalie, I would expect Greenfield to be the starter against Cardiff currently, so it will be interesting to see what Fox does regarding the starting NM over this weekend. We need to keep Greenfield's good start going but also need to give Ostlund the opportunity to shake off the cob webs he seems to still have at the moment.
Think we may see some more different lines again with maybe a return to a couple we saw first pre-season weekend against the Panthers. I think we could see:
Allen-Neumann-Ciampini
Latal-Raska-Mosey
McNally-Connolly-Dowd
Pitule-Whistle-Jono
Petgrave-Schulze
Piche-Jones
Nevalainen-Davey
Greenfield
Warburton / McLaughlin

I'd like to see more from us 5 on 5, if we're to compete at the top we need to see more than we have across the last 3 games.
I'd like to see Ostlund get a full home game this Satuday, with Greendfield starting on Sunday.

I think the 5 v 5 will pick up once lines start to become more familiar, I also think Connolly coming back into the mix will have good knock on effect for some others in the lineup.Joesteeler wrote: ↑Thu Sep 01, 2022 11:57 amI'd like to see more from us 5 on 5, if we're to compete at the top we need to see more than we have across the last 3 games.

Yeah Ostlund hasn't had any home minutes yet so maybe his chance Saturday? Wouldn't be surprised to see Greenfield start in both to be honest as Fox will want him ready to go against the Devils opening night, could always take him out Sunday so he doesn't have 2 full games.
Ostlund needs to play. He got better as the game went on last night so I think he just needs more game time to get back into it. Greenfield seems to be in game form already so I think play Ostlund until he gets to the required level whilst the results don't matter.

I will be there Saturday, I saw the highlights of yesterday v Manchester (that last goal was painful to watch) overall I don't think Ostlund was half bad. I'd like to see him get at least a few home minutes but I definitely am liking Greenfield at the moment, maybe Ostlund will improve through more competitive game time. Also can't wait for Connolly's return.
Unrelated, I think so far the main threats this season will be Nottingham and Belfast. Panthers beat Coventry 4-1 and they have a decent new head coach, those losses in the weekend are probably down to the fact that they are all adjusting, new GM, new head coach, new players, even new media team. And what isn't worrying about Belfast.
(I think I've gotten rid of all the typos, Christmas music has already come on the telly andit's tvery distracting, I've asked mum to turn it off but sshe said no)

Is it bedtime yet
Just for information, the car park under the ring road is no longer there, they are laying a road straight through it, so there’s 2 real options for parking.
1. Drive around the SkyDome road and the car park on the left is still there but it can take an hour to get out after the game

2. Belgrade NCP a bit of a walk but quicker exiting

Hope this helps

I agree need to look at lines and addition of Conns will shake it up.
Ciampini. Neumann. Allen
Latal. Raska. Dowd.
McNally. Whistle. Mosey
Conns. Pitule. Phillips.
Think too soon for Conns on third line. Give Brandon a chance higher up the line up and let Pistule continue to find his eihl bearings.
Saw the goals from Manchester last night and there was some dreadful individual and whole line play in our d zone.
Really need the D to get with the idea of their main role but hasn't that always been an issue.
Would go with Ostlund at home and Greenfield away. Then injuries not withstanding Greenfield for the Devils game.
You could argue for swapping Mosey for Dowd too.

I hope Connolly gets through both games unscathed. It would be great to get a fully fit Connolly firing.
I’d certainly play both goalies giving them one full game each. I’d agree with other posts and play Greenfield in the away game.
Results not massively important but we’ll have played 5 games which I think is a good pre-season.

Just seen a stat on twitter, 5 on 5 play we were outscored by Nottingham 7-2 over the weekend, meaning after the game on Wednesday, we have scored 5 goals in 3 games when playing 5 on 5.
Pre-season, so no concerns yet, but we ideally need that rectifying before the Cardiff game.
