Not following the rules is purely selfish. You have no idea of the potential implications for those who contract the virus, their families and circle of contacts. It is not a mild infection for everyone whether they have been vaccinated or not. For some it is life threatening. Wearing a mask and having proof of vaccination to protect a life is a small thing to ask surely.

Absolutely, unfortunately though there will be people who are against vaccination who will not wish to wear masks and will be prepared just to say they are exempt .
One thing that isn't clear to me yet is are they asking the seated crowd to wear masks ?

Your not alone. Several of the people who normally sit around us are missing it as are we. I have COVID, I have been very ill despite being double vaccinated and having a booster.
According to NHS information 66% of people in intensive care beds are unvaccinated COVID cases. They are blocking beds for people who require life saving surgery. How can that be right. Those people didn't choose to have a life threatening illness but they are at the mercy of people who do choose to potentially have a life threatening illness.
I agree with free choice but what about collective responsibility?

Arena update:
I can confirm no Covid protocol checks for vaccine checks or NHS Covid passports at least for us and the 3 families in front of us and from what I saw the couple behind us in the queue either. All adults in queue were all wearing masks, our kids were to, but a couple of pre adult yoofs (teenagers) were not and did seem ( couldn't tell what if anything was said to them) to be let in without checks.
Now in arena and more folk than normal on a game night sat down in seats are wearing masks but plenty are not also..
