We sure do find some of the worst ways to stand-out from the other leagues don't we? The league is waiting till they have no other option because of money, nothing else and that is blooming depressing.SteelerBlade wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 4:32 pmUK hockey leagues are the last in the world to be working busas usual.

To be fair they're acting on government medical advice. We're one of the last European countries with no limit on gatherings.DiscoRay wrote:We sure do find some of the worst ways to stand-out from the other leagues don't we? It is still a little early for the UK. We’re behind Europe with decisions because of this.
According to the Chief Medical Advisor we’re 4 weeks behind Italy.
It will be another week I think before bigger events are either cancelled or played behind closed doors.
I would expect the Playoffs to be cancelled though.

The EIHL are between a rock and a hard place. Financially the league is not cash rich, or stable, so suspending the league and cancelling the play offs would really impact on its viability next season. A very difficult situation for all clubs and the league. I'm glad I don't have to make the decision to pull the plug.
Dundee have essentially said they're cancelling 2 fan events and not signing autographs other than that it's carry on as normalDimTim wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 6:07 pmhttps://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-51851341
Scotland are stopping gatherings of 500 people. Dundee, Fife & Glasgow?
NHL has now followed NBA & suspended season.

That's for this weekend only, they have no choice to "carry on as normal" from Monday onwards.Jarv wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 7:49 pmDundee have essentially said they're cancelling 2 fan events and not signing autographs other than that it's carry on as normalDimTim wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 6:07 pmhttps://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-51851341

The maths is frightening. Chief scientific officer claimed that we probably have 10 to 20k cases right now. He also claimed that the figure is doubling every 2 to 3 days. If that is true then by the playoff weekend we might have 2 million cases. That is 1 in 30 of the population. Assuming the playoffs attract 6000, that means maybe 200 people attending might be carrying the virus. Actually that probably overestimates to total at that moment probably by a factor of 2. So maybe only 100 in the crowd. I don’t think I’ll go being old and asthmatic etc.

They seem to be going for "herd immunity" here. Hoping enough "healthy" people get it and recover which would protect the elderly and those with underlying conditions.Bryan wrote:The maths is frightening. The naivety of some people!! Do you honestly believe that this virus is proving fatal only to the elderly and those with underlying issues?it’s a smoke screen manufactured to prevent mass hysteria I can assure you it’s symptoms are killing off the healthy also.
