I wish they would put the seats in at the far end like they had years ago

Smith has already said it is not cost effective even if they’re full.

I'm not sure what we'll do when Dowdy retires, he's just so integral to everything we do. The 3rd and 4th goals were all about him.

Shudra is my all time number one legend, but Dowdy isn't far behind.

It's a little frustrating letting a 3 - 2 lead slip away like we did, but we're clearly 2 very well matched teams.

No excuses about Nottingham being under strength, they had 15 imports and enough Brits to make up 4 lines.

Regards

It's going to go right to the wire this year - 4 teams with absolutely nothing between them at the top.

Poor 1st, strong 2nd, probably edged the 3rd. Probably the correct result overall.

Reece Kelly absolutely outstanding - keep going on this trajectory and I think he's going to be a legit top 4 D in the league.

Had to be Dowd for the winner.

Panthers are a good team - Pearson for all his odd duck-ness is a quality player. Noel as well. They're soft though - Tansey and Shudra caused a number of turnovers in their zone with good forecheck and hits.

If we can get at least a point tomorrow, then I'm happy. But we definitely need Watling up to speed sooner rather than later - the extra creativity will really help.

Also thought Watson did ok - he needs a bit more time to get used to the pace, but didn't do anything wrong that I noticed

I think we are soft too. When we were 3-2 up late in third I said to my guys they would get one back late. Our game management and softness in our own d zone was there big time. We do have a big issue with losing clean d zone faceoffs too.
Was a good game and the second period was by far our best one of the game.
With regards to the Brits with the ageing Dowd. IBN looks promising, Kelly has impressed me massively in recent weeks and I have a good feeling about Steele at the Dogs.

I predicted a close game with Steelers OT win. Just got the score wrong lol.

Amazing to see a record crowd and an unbelievable 50/50. Was well chuffed for (what looked like) a young couple winning it.

As for the game, I found it a tough watch. 3rd period was the most entertaining, but I still don’t see any rivalry, or can get past the hype I’m afraid. In other words there’s nothing to tempt me off my sofa to get to the arena.

Greenfield will want one of the goals back, in fact I didn’t think he had a great game by his high standards As others have already mentioned Kelly is improving nicely and helped start the set up of the 3rd goal I think with some good board play. Was good to see we won more face-offs although Nottingham appeared to win most of the critical ones I thought.

Both Panthers and us are the softest teams I’ve seen since my start of watching ice hockey 25 years ago. Hopefully Watling will bring some badly needed quality which could be enough to see us top the pile at the end of the season.

I hope it doesn't sound churlish, but I really thought we were second best for a lot of the time tonight. The passing was often poor. Our PK is really outstanding this season. We didn’t get a single pp thanks in part to rather eccentric refereeing. (Why is Perrin around so often when the seems to be the case Surely literally kicking a player when he is down is worth 2 mins?) I didn’t feel we made enough A1 chances and the PK and Greenfield kept us in it for the first two periods. I did feel Greenfield wasn’t at his best in the third, but overall he owes us absolutely nothing. I imagine he regrets not getting his pad down on the ice for one goal. Dowd really has become Boys Own Annual stuff. As has been said we will miss him for his on ice play and leadership when the time comes. I hope Watling makes it soon. We really need his finishing.
