Can someone anyone please please explain to me why Davy phillips got a penalty for wrong equipment I have never heard of that pone is it new or one the OFFIOUS OFFICIALS made up

According to Steelers Twitter his stick broke & he held onto it too long!

I assume he tried to play puck with just a piece of handle.

No he didn’t do anything with the top half of his stick but according to the interpretation of the law by the refs, simply holding it was wrong and he should have dropped it. I have no idea if this is correct but have to assume it is

It is correct, a player has to drop his stick immediately once broken.
