Confirmed this would be a retirement should he not be required to return. Future as a dentist apparently.

Big loss this. A player who is a team player in every sense of the word.

There’s no cutting of roster here. This is a guy who’s probably playing with what would normally be a season ending injury or even 2. He was in a bad way a few weeks ago remember.

With regards to his send off. Seeing what I’ve seen from this guys from day 1, he’s a no-fuss sort of player and bloke so probably didn’t want any big fuss at all and out the team first before himself which to me looks typical of the man.

I think all any of us can say in this instance is a true thank you Eric, in the short time you’ve been here, you’ve been a gentleman on and off the ice and put the badge on the front before the name in the back. That’s all we’ll ever ask if anyone who plays for the club.

Sounds like James Bettauer will be taking on the "Swing Guy" role.

Be interested to see how he fares as we didn't see his best and we're a much improved side. Guys like Sandström have improved mass so be good to see Bettauer do the same.
Cant say I'm enamoured with this. He was terrible up until his injury. Would be amazed that he would get in the team. Between him, Liwing and Kolehmainen to be scratched depending on injuries etc and how many spares we will carry.
Delighted that AJ will be back soon. With him, Tronc, Hrabal, the D core is a much better, bigger, more aggressive D.

What a huge miss for the Team. It’s obvious how the rest of the guys feel from the send off he got. He was a lovely guy. I got tot chat to him at Bassetlaw bandits and he is a great guy. I wish you all the best in your dentistry profession and thank you for your amazing contribution to our great team.

I agree Jay and what about Davey?. He mentioned about becoming a dentist at Bassetlaw but didn’t expect it to be so quick.

Sorry to see you go but with a injury problem I would think time to recover will do him more good, age and injury's don't go together too well.

I don't think he will ever be considered a Steelers great, and in all honesty, neither should he, he doesn't come close.. But what he was, was the right guy at the right time, with a hell of a work ethic that was truly appreciated by most of the fan's (some on here didn't rate him) and all of his fellow players.

Got to fully agree with that Jay, if his fellow pro's appreciated him he must of been doing something right
