Well, can't fault the outcomes this weekend! Good first but fatigue then took over a bit. Good pushback in last 10 minutes and Juusola continues to be automatic on penalty shots. Balmas didn't finish the game so hopefully just a precaution.
Harper and Pu both very good. Pu especially was excellent on the forecheck and in his own zone. Both bring a good bit of size, Harper created a good turnover with a big hit at one point. Was billed as someone who goes to the net and got his goal from there. Got good position and finished well.
Dougherty again impressive, just makes little plays that facilitate clean zone exits. Southorn also settling in quite well - does not look a downgrade on Saucerman so far, on par at least.
4th line also put some good shifts together - Shudra this time on fight duty and ended up on top (although not a whole lot landed either way).
McAdam absolutely excellent. If that's what we get every game from him then Greenfield will only need to play 45 games this year. Might be our best goalie tandem since O'Neill/Torchia

I didn't see the game, but that is a very good result.
After the effort last night and the additional conditioning Cardiff have, I thought we'd lose this by a few goals, but not at all.
Hopefully with a few more games and time on the ice practicing, we'll see continued improvement from this team.
I remain cautiously optimistic.
Regards
Doom

Not seen either games, as I'm not really interested in watching another game against an EIHL team in pre-season.
However, I think we've done very well considering Cardiff are further on in the their training camp/pre-season than us. Like Doom, I also expected a loss for this one with the efforts of the previous night, but 2 x wins is great and will help with early confidence and team bonding I think.
Pleased we also managed to play both goalies as well. We really do have a proper 1a and 1b.

Plenty of potential in this squad.
There were glimpses of what to expect early on.
I though we got tired after about 25 mins only to have an attacking spurt in the last 5 mins. Expected Cardiff to win 5-2 but we held firm.
Must be a worry for them now to not finish us off. 2 wins and 3 losses so far for the Devils.
McAdam played well - 41/43 saves, over 95%.
A few missed passes as you'd expect at this time of year.

Highlights, not sure why there’s no Steelers ones though?

We're so late generally getting highlights out - usually Tuesday/Wednesday before we get them.smbmetal wrote: ↑Mon Sep 01, 2025 6:46 pmHighlights, not sure why there’s no Steelers ones though?

Strange decision by Cardiff not to include the fights in their highlights. Nice to see Thommo continuing his run from his last season with us where he just can't get a win when the Steelers are involved

Cardiff look miles better than under him than they did with Pete Russell already.
Definitely don't write them off for a trophy this year. Probably not got enough scoring to take the league but could easily go on a run for cup/playoffs.
