Good thought that.
They've got to give Hicksy something to do right?

Yes, and there will be more shocks if we look like we can lift the title.

You would hope the situation room people, or person if just Hicks, will communicate with fans rather than the more usual mushroom style of DOPS.

O'Connor suspended for 2 games..
An incident occurred in Guildford on Sunday 2 February involving Sheffield Steelers’ #81 BenO’Connor on Guildford Flames’ #18 Brett Ferguson for which a 5 minute Major and GameMisconduct for a Cross Check call was assessed by the Referee. The incident was reviewed by the EIHL Department of Player Safety which determined supplementary discipline is required under Category 2 – ‘Reckless’ – a deliberate and/or dangerous action with no concern for the result, with a conscious action to provoke through intent and a willful purpose. Injury is not the determining factor, but can be considered as influential means to the decision.

I think everyone on here knows my views and opinions of Hicks and the officials in the Eihl in general. Yes I'm to old to lace them up and have a go. But I have been following ice hockey for years. So I do have a opinion.
We have pro players from the very top leagues playing in this league. Nhl, Khl etc, these players expect to be able to play and/or be protected. Then we have Hicks and some very amateurish officiating on these pro players. It's never going to work!
I've seen and been saying for years that this league is never going anywhere, and although I do believe it has improved as a league overall, will always be a beer league whilst the league insist on using officials led by poor management to run games.
It is by the grace of God that no player has been seriously injured by poor officiating. Yet!!
Time and time again I sit through games and I'm simply gob smacked at some of the officiating. Yes they are volunteers, yes they get our grief but the league needs to invest GREATLY in the officiating. We all want to see the league evolve, we all want to see the game improve nationally. But unless the owners have a plan to improve officiating greatly then the league will not move forward.
On a final note, and this is for Jay. How many years ago was it that we sat through a fan forum where our owner and chair of the board of the EIHL was confronted with the question about officiating and the inadequacy of the officials?
Further. What was his reply. I can't remember all the answer, but it was on the lines of we are looking at it and referees from higher leagues in Europe!

Looking at the upcoming Steelers fixtures, O'Connor will be missing from the Dundee game at home (15/2/20), and Panthers away (22/02/20).
Let's home there are no more injuries in the D, and that Hrabel is back to full fitness. I did read/hear somewhere that it was hoped he'd be back for when the games resume post-international break.
