Aaron Fox has confirmed that Liam Kirk “is gone” with multiple offers elsewhere.

https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/230605/liam-kirk

Kirk in his 2nd spell with the Steelers iced 14 Elite Series games scoring 20 points.

He was also the joint top goal scorer in the World Championship for GB.

Kirk has been linked with the Allsvenskan & Finnish Liiga.

Firstly I’m glad we won’t see Kirk back playing for the Steelers.

Whilst I wish him all the luck in the world and I’ve already said on another thread. If Kirk goes to Europe, for me his NHL dream is over. Oh how I would love to be proved wrong.
What choice does he have if he has no NHL offers?

Excellent point.

I would like to have thought someone in the ECHL or even AHL would take a punt on him. I just think if he goes to Europe any chance of making the NHL is harder that’s all.

Wherever he ends up, I’m sure he will do well and perhaps one day we’ll see him back in Orange.

Steelers confirm backup netminder Ben Churchfield is on the 21/22 roster.

https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/1 ... hurchfield

The 25 year old stepped into the Elite Series after the injury to John Muse performing decently for a backup with little in the way of professional experience.

He’s a product of the Sheffield system and has had 6 years in North America, some of which he was working with ex NHL netminder Hannu Toivonen.

Good news that Jono is back in town. Did wonder if Waller might have Ben the guy to replace him when he finally hangs his skates, but it seems not. Maybe he wasn't prepared to wait another 15 years?
