Steelers tired in the third and let in 2 goals past Brine who did OK in the net for the third. Overall steelers held their own against a largely settled side with already 3 games played. Fairly encouraging. Of all the new players Tiessela caught my eye.

Can't really complain with that for a first pre season game. Especially against a team who will likely be a challenger, with a side mostly the same as last year and 2 weeks ahead in terms of their camp.
Aarnio, Roe and Erkamps all look very solid, made great defensive plays and won a lot of board battles. Stucker probably looked the most rusty in terms of game sharpness but nothing horrendous in his general play for this stage of the season.
Brine did well, not at fault for either. Couple of good saves.
Teissala and Rockwood look the business. Gettinger showed a couple of bits using his size and puck protection. Collins looks as advertised. Archambault had a couple of flashes but was more impressed with his defensive work.
No need to worry about Steele getting minutes, looked completely comfortable and made a couple of nice plays.
Overall, satisfied even if the legs went a bit in the final period

I didn't see the game, but that sounds like a really good workout against a much better prepared team.
We were always going to tire and that coupled with Brine going in goal was going to make it difficult.
Will we have enough left in the tank tomorrow?
Regards

Balmas/Rockwood/Tait
Juusola/Gettinger/Teissala
Archambault/Dowd/Whistle
Jasper/Collins/IBN
Cormier/Erkamps
Roe/Diffley
Aarnio/Steele
Stucker
Greenfield (1st and 2nd period)
Brine(3rd period)
Only caught last 5 of 1st due to webcast issues. 1st goal Tait beats his man for speed down the boards , cuts in takes a shot and rebound drops straight to Rockwood following in. Good finish. Their first was a pp goal, well worked (but I doubt any special teams has been worked on yet in 1st week). Second the D just get caught puck watching slightly (not unexpected in 1st game).
Second period definitely more 65/35 Sheffield. Teissala gets the equaliser with a really nice snipe from the top of the circle after a good board battle win by Gettinger and the puck getting recycled round to him.
3rd was a 3 on 2 break and a bit of luck as Cormier's shot is saved but as the goalie moves the puck rolls of his equipment and trickles in.
Bit of pushback from Cardiff towards the end of the period. 3rd Brine goes in, Cardiff push and get a goal just after a pp - good pass out front and the D had just got a bit dragged out of position (fatigue definitely setting in). Cardiff definitely got a bit extra in the tank and push. Manage to create a bit of chaos again in the zone, Brine makes a double save but they somehow manage to force the puck over his pad. After that a couple of good saves by Brine, a couple of half chances at the other end but legs were heavy by that point.
Need to get the chemistry amongst the forwards but was always likely to take a bit of tinkering given the number of new faces. D does look potentially very good. Roe could be a really good pick up. Steele fits in seamlessly.

Thought we looked sharper in this game than the one back at the arena.
Some decent saves by Brine too.
