I'd argue Jasper probably had a slight upswing last year when you look at his previous year in ICEHL - better PPG, better +/- (joint 5th highest this year) and from eye test he still has his legs (speed certainly not an issue and great forecheck). He's probably not hitting that magical ppg mark, but if he's offering 0.7 PPG from the third line then can't really complain given his other qualities

Good to see that we’re announcing player news early. Promotes a positive outlook from the outside looking in for me, no ‘set your alarms for 6am’ etc, just getting on with business.

Happy with all the re-signings, who were all on my returnee list. Whistle is an upgrade on Shudra, although he’s more effective on special teams, than 5 on 5 for me, as he’s weak on the puck, but has a great shot. Needs to stay fit though.

A great start considering it’s only a week since the end of the season.

Ivan Björkly-Nordström Confirmed on a two year deal...
Fox says “he has a high ceiling” which I suppose goes with the territory when you’re 6’ 5”.

Interesting that Whistle was signed so quickly. Giants season ended only a week before ours - he didn’t need much time to mull that one over!

Olivier Archambault announced. Didn't expect this one, but happy with it. Very skilled, if I remember correctly his team in Slovakia last year was a nightmare situation hence why he left mid season. Was PPG up to that point and just over a PPG in France. Good start to the new imports

A typical Fox signing. Back end of his career and dropping down the leagues.

With Belfast being the benchmark, I'm going to do the Belfast test this season. Any player who signs, I'm going to ask myself how I'd feel if they'd signed for Belfast. In this case, I'd be quite pleased if Keefe had made this signing.

Literally a PPG in Slovakia last year - that's Watling/Kontos level scoring the season before coming here. If you listen to Fox's interview he wanted to try France once being French Canadian, so went there when his Slovakian team went to pot.

Don't think there's anything not to like here

Watling was late twenties when he signed and probably near his peak.

Archambault is 33 and clearly on the downward slope.

I see this as a Pu/Jasper/Southorn type signing. Decent enough player, but not of the quality to put us ahead of Belfast (that's the goal for me).

We're going to require some top level signings to get ahead of Belfast, Archambault falls middle of the road for me rather than top level.
