Sondre Olden - Confirmed

Steelers confirm the signing of Norwegian international winger Sondre Olden.

Olden, who stands 6”4”, joins from recently cancelled Norwegian Eliteserien side Vålerenga of Oslo.

The 28 year old has 150 Norwegian Eliteserien games, as well as 115 games in the SHL with MODO Hockey, Brynäs IF & Leksands IF.

He’s also iced in the EBEL (now the ICEHL), with Medveščak Zagreb where he was signed by Fox. He also iced in that league with the Vienna Capitals.

He lists Pool A internationals & Champions Hockey League appearences on his CV.

Interesting that Fox said flat-out he’s too good and likely won’t have much chance of landing him for 21/22, seems to be maybe with a longer term view to his later career.

If it wasn’t for Covid he’d probably be at the ICEHL level still or similar like DEL etc.

His EBEL numbers and the comments made about him make me think he could be similar to Fretter in terms of skill level.

I wouldn't be disappointed with that.
