Well I agree Manchester made it difficult for us to score but we gifted them their opportunities and some weren’t working hard enough at times.

I wasn’t convinced by the tripping call and can understand the Storm player’s anger in OT. Nevertheless we got the win and showed good promise at times but need to be more consistent.

I thought our effort was mediocre for the last 25 minutes of that game. Storm wanted it more, played a heavy, physical game. I thought our d men themselves, and overall Dzone play wasn't the best. Im still to be convinced (early days of course) of Dougherty's defensive defenceman play.
I thought the OT pp given to us was a bit of a gimme.
I thought Pu and Jasper were our standout players.
What happened to Dowd for the last 2 periods?

Dowd went to hospital but all ok on scan so back at the arena. Fox said he's hopefully back next weekend but likely to have a couple of days off.

Southorn has a slight niggle which is the reason he's been scratched.

Storm out-muscled us all evening. They’re not particularly skilful but I imagine in their barn will be a real handful this year. I’m afraid Harper committed an awful penalty with a cross check to the face. His physical presence is excellent but he needs to avoid overdoing it. Gentile has a lovely touch and will thrive off opportunities created by Harpers disruptive presence in front of goal. Penalty killing looks good. Even the pp already has a better look than last year. Overall Fox seems to have put a promising squad together, again!

Both Belfast and Cardiff lose tonight.....there are not many easy games in this league. You have to work to earn your wins.

We're in a good place at the moment in the Challenge Cup, but plenty of tough tests still to come.

If you look at some Giants fans comments, they have some serious defensive issues at the moment.

I thought our passing was poor for much of the game and gave the puck away so many times it was ridiculous. We also seemed to come off second best on the physical side yet still managed to find the net. Having lost a comfortable three goal lead I felt that Manchester could definitely go on to win but we found a way to get the result. Looking at the final scores alone it has been a good weekend but there is much that can be tightened up on.

Feel like there's a bit of an overreaction on here to the fact Manchester got back in the game. Bit of context still needed - Manchester are a decent side who Critchlow will get hard work from. They played really well and shut down players - Welsh is quality and would easily get in a league challenging team. It's still less than 10 games in including pre-season, so guys are still getting up to full speed and Manchester had the extra day rest.

We were the better team after the equaliser, and had it not been for a crossbar, we'd have been 4-2 up. It's literally 2 errors that both got punished. Actually didn't make a lot of errors other than those.

Games are going to be closer generally this year, no bad teams. Remember, everyone always wants a competitive league, until games are competitive. Gotta enjoy squeezing out a win from games where it's not perfect

I felt the third was one of the worst periods of hockey I have seen for a while.
Storm can play, but we let them In the third they were pushing us off the puck.
Gentile looks to be class, looking forward to how many goals he does get this season.
