Trying not to get away from the thread subject. As an example, I would much rather watch a 2000/2001 game against the Panthers than any game against them over the last 5 years. As for the game being more skillful, I disagree. Tony Hand, Rick Brabant, David Longstaff are more skilled than any of our current crop of players. Imagine how much better in today’s game they would have been without the constant threat of being flattened every shift as well!

Keeping on the subject thread, how many players do we have left to sign? 5D ain’t enough for a start. Yes, Shudra can drop back and help out, but we need at least one more D man?

How about the backup goalie as well? An Import duo with Greenfield, or risk it with a Brit as backup?

I believe we still need to sign:

Import netminder (believed to be Eamon McAdam)
British netminder

Import defenceman (believed to be Jack Dougherty)

Import forward

We may also sign a spare import.

Cheers.

I think recent history shows that a spare import is almost a necessity now.

Totally agree,,,would also prefer to watch a steelers/ panthers game from years back as opposed to anything from last 10 year. even in more recent years a colt king type player would do nicely thank you,,,, but it is what it is now and hopefully some of these new signings bring us some entertainment value

Eamon McAdam officially signs for Sheffield Steelers

https://www.sheffieldsteelers.co.uk/eam ... -steelers/
After three years backstopping the Guildford Flames, Eamon McAdam has made the blockbusting move to the Steelers to join Matt Greenfield between the pipes. After completing his education at Penn State University, McAdam turned pro in 2016 signing for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League.
In the six seasons that followed Eamon split his time between the AHL (55 games) and the ECHL (113 games) before heading to Europe and joining Danish side Esbyerg Energy in 2021.
Eamon is exactly the type of guy we needed to be that secondary option to Greener. He’s a guy that is a legit starter in our league and I will have confidence in when needing to give Greener some rest. With the amount of games we play and the importance of each one, having a tandem like this is great for our group. Eamon has played some huge games against us so we know firs hand he can get the job done.
I loved my time in Guildford but my career had come to a point where I had to make some serious decisions, I put a strong focus on winning and the draw of playing for such a professional organisation as the Steelers.
I know I will be competing with Matt Greenfield who over the last three seasons has set the bar in our league, I want us to push each other every day in practice and in doing that we are helping the team come game time, whoever is between the pipes that night. When I spoke with Aaron, he didn’t have to persuade me too much, the chance to come to an organisation where the pressure is to win is a big draw. I can’t wait to be in that environment.

Great signing, goalie tandem will be arguably best in the league depending on Panthers 1B.

Certainly a 91% netminder in our league and behind a better team he might be nearer 92%.

He should offer us more than we got from our backups last season.

I'd expect a 50/50 split in Challenge Cup games, with Greener getting 75% of league games.

A very good signing as a 1B goalie.

Should give some genuine competition for Mr Greenfield as well which can only be useful.

Welcome to Sheffield Eamon!

He's not far off 92% now - 91.9 over 89 EIHL games. 25-30 games is what we need from him

McAdams a great signing. We could have won the league last season if Greener hadn't been out injured for most of October. We had a serious losing streak that must have cost us 4-6 PTS.

Definitely a 1a and 1b situation!
