I presume that may make a difference to future player signings too when they can guarantee the standard of home ice they can use...

This is the latest commitment by SIV, now Sheffield City Trust, and it goes to show that ever since Dom Stokes came in then the working relationship between the Steelers and them has grown from strength to strength.

No more are we considered mere mortals, they take us seriously. Whatever next?
Either way it's a major boost for the club and us fans that things like this happen.
Hockey fan since 1980, Steeler since day one.

Looking at the article in the Stir there appears to be a concrete foundation put down where it is now sited. I wonder if it is to be ‘boxed in’ in due course?

Great news that this is still being installed. I guess it must have been paid for before this crisis.

Looking forward to seeing what the new ice will look like when we finally get back playing.

It's at the stage end above entrance A that never gets used.

like I said above, a perfect place to position the new one, I take it the old one has not been removed then?

Is the whole rink being dug up? They had problems with coolant pipework leaking a couple of years ago discolouring the ice. A new ice plant will not sort that out.

I wouldn't think that a new Ice plant (in a completely different position) could use pipework that for the most part is 30 years old and routed in a completely different location.
Maybe the thinking behind the different positioning on the new ice plant is for that exact reason, that new piping has to be laid, maybe leaving some of the old unused piping in place and entering the pad from a new angle and just routing the new pipework etc.

The Pipes them selves are likely to be totally different and a major upgrade on any old pipes, different light materials for a start.. :geek:
