We are looking at this wrong.
£64 is a lot for a stream, but it shows what value the actual tickets to be there live are.
It’s all a plan to encourage people to go to the playoffs.

That would make sense, but don't the playoffs usually sell out? Especially if us and Nottingham are there.

It's another subject, but I think the Playoffs should be rotated between Sheffield & Nottingham.

Score Updates

Due to the start of the cricket season I'll be away in Lincoln umpiring a match, I don't expect to be home until around 8pm so no score updates from me, normal service resumes on Sunday ( if we qualify )

Is anybody else having trouble buying the Saturday evening webcast? I’m going to the tv. Elite league website. I get as far as selecting the match for £16 and then nothing. Just a circle going round and round. (I get the same for the earlier Belfast match too)
Any one know what’s happening?

I always find the NHL All stars skills challenges fun to watch. I think as no one really cares who comes 3rd, that place should be decided by players from the two teams competing in something similar to that.

Could fit a fair few challenges in the time a game would take, and would make things a bit more fun for the fans to watch. (although I still probably wouldn't pay full price for a stream of it)
I completely agree. If players from the teams not involved in the semis/final take part in a fun skills event it gives their fans something to get involved in and a final chance to see their star players before the end of the season.
But I assume there are financial implications for the teams whose season ended 2 weeks previously, I don't know how the pay structure for the Elite League players works and whether the league would step up to foot the bill for this.

Categorically wrong, it’s a sell out.

I guess Belfast will start clear favourites in the first game, having dominated the Devils throughout the season.

Probably 50% of the crowd in the NIC will be made up of Panthers/Steelers and I'd expect most of those to be wanting Cardiff to win, because they would be perceived as the easier final opponents.

I personally prefer Giants as a club, but hope Cardiff can beat them. I don't see this as a great Giants team like they were two seasons ago and certainly not deserving of a Grandslam, but they may yet get it.

Our game is 50/50, I think a lot will depend on the fitness of our players. If Dowd and Vally are both good to go, then I think we have a decent chance. If they're not we're in trouble, because we'll be very light in the forwards.

Unfortunately I suspect Simpson will miss out on another playoff weekend, which is really disappointing for him and us.

Enjoy the weekend folks.....it's a long break from the hockey after this.

Regards

A battle of the best goalies for us and Panthers.

I have to say I’ll be disappointed if we don’t at least make the final considering the number of grand slam returnees.

Most of the time this season we’ve flattered to deceive I think. The CHL campaign being the only current major highlight with some of the best hockey I’ve ever seen in the UK. As mentioned many times it can be argued that it might have cost us the league campaign, but to be honest we’ve thrown away a fair few other games which were months after the CHL.

From the 15 or so games I’ve seen this season, I can’t say it’s been an enjoyable season to watch from my point of view, in fact at times some of our hockey has been a dire dull watch with only 20 mins of decent play in most of the games I’ve seen.

I think Panthers will edge this one 4-3 in OT. Really hope it’s a barnstormer!
