There is a general duty in professional sport to play your strongest available team, even more so when the outcome of your game can have a significant effect on other teams, if you are playing a middle of the table game which has no real effect on everyone else then fair enough, if you can affect who wins a championship or gets relegated/qualifies for the playoffs etc then you have a duty to the integrity of the league.

If he's injured then fair enough, if he isn't then it's poor.

I understand the resting of Grande as I would expect us to do the same with Greenfield if in the same position.

I do think it gives us a clue though how seriously they are taking the game though. Which isn’t very unfortunately.
I don't understand it at all, resting a hot goalie just before the playoff games.

100% Mark, it's a sign of a poor decision for the league as a whole.

Robson in goal for Coventry, even though they have an important playoff game next week. Looks like they want to sign off with a win and quite rightly so.

And that is what I have an issue with. Robson is blatantly not fit, yet still plays when again it's a dead rubber for them.

I'd be unhappy if I was Robson to be honest. Why is he not allowed a rest day when Grande is?

I don't think Nottingham are doing anything wrong, but I did hope with it being a sellout and eyes outside the usual hockey circles being on a tight exciting title race they would have gone 100% to win this.

We often moan about our sport not being taken seriously, but this doesn't help.

I do think the Nottingham players on the ice will give 100% and try to win the game, but there's no doubt they would have had a much better chance with Grande in goal.

Expect Belfast to put a lot of rubber on the Nottingham goal, because they'll be fully aware that Huhtamaa has a mistake or 3 in him.

Nottingham are not doing anything wrong, but if we aren't winning the league there's no way in hell I want another team winning it on our ice.

Plus I genuinely would be annoyed if I was Mat Robson! Not had a game off all year, and can't even get one when not fully fit in a dead rubber

I can’t fault Nottingham for a dead rubber game for them. Why risk an injury on your best player when there’s still another trophy to play for? If the situation was reversed I wouldn’t want to see Greenfield playing.

We see teams in most sports field lesser strength teams when there’s more important games on the line to come.

As a fan though I wouldn’t want to see anyone win a championship on my home ice. But that’s a fan’s view.

Congratulations to Belfast for winning the league :D

I've been thinking. It's disrespectful to the league, to the Steelers and to the Nottingham fans who have paid good money to watch the best team they can and unfortunately it isn't.
