O’Connor leaves the Steelers

Enjoyed watching Ben in his time in Sheffield, although I agree with a few comments about drop in performances.
Good luck in the future Ben, as always you'll always be welcome back in Sheffield!
Mr Fox now has his work cut out to find a 'top end' Brit - if that's the way he decides to go. Interesting week ahead in Steelerland!

With Ben it's mainly unforced errors that are his downfall. Sloppy play from a lack of concentration in the D zone.

We dont need to replace Ben with a Brit, we can replace him with an equally good import for probably less money and use the saving elsewhere and of course bring in an other Brit in a position Mr Fox believes works best withing the team and budget...

I think Bowns maybe headed Graz 99ers...wakefieldsteelersfan wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 8:13 pmInteresting move. Will we see another "high end" Brit replacement I wonder. If losing O'Connor means we could afford to bring in the likes of Farmer, Ferrara or Bowns (as unlikely as that would be) then I'd be very happy.

With the amount of the season that he missed last year Dowd will feel like a new Brit signings to an extent.....suspect a lower end Brit with left over money going towards the rest of the roster, as opposed to a like for like swap of Brit level

Yep thats how I see it too, maybe not so much lower end talent wise, but maybe a good prospect and good player already but lower down in pay scale, Benny was on top dollar...

With so much uncertainty around sport right now, budgets will be moving consistently and I can imagine tough decisions need to be made quickly so that the club and coach know where they are.
Sad though it is, the club does need to look at getting the younger Brits in. These guys can't go on forever.
I think Ben had probably gone a bit stale with us and needed a new challenge. Both have got the best out of the situations they've found themselves in.
I'm liking Fox more and more because he's shown that he's happy to make those tough decisions when needed.
