100% behind you there Bryan, yes it's sport but when you're a paying fan it stings when the on ice performance is so bad.

But none of us are professional sports people, we are paying supporters who like to vent when the performance is so badmark wrote: ↑Sat Mar 01, 2025 10:03 pmI could say the same about your response to my post. WE LOST, GET OVER IT is exactly what a professional sportsman has to do especially when you are playing another game next day, as for why we lost, well sometimes the other team gets to play good and for a more detailed explanation I'll wait to hear from the coach.

Otherwise what's the point of a forum?

Guys I fully agree with all you guys have said about the game and your reaction to the loss and actually Mark to a too to a degree, we all react differently to such an embarrassing performance as that, I am prone at times to give a knee jerk reaction at times like last night to and yes we're 100% allowed to do that on this forum, maybe Mark's reaction was also the same thing but at the other end of the argument... And see no reason non of us can't do or say what we want under our own rules.. Fact is we pick ourselves up and move on to tonight...

This is what we have this season an inconsistent team so the loss is no big shock in one way. Every season you get a different type of team on the ice, fast/slow/physical/ a team that gels etc etc, all part of the game. Hopefully next season brings another good season and there is always the play offs this year. would be expected for a steelers team to finish in top 3 and get 1 piece of silverware for definite.
I was hoping for a big effort against Cov in the wake of Belfast's loss. Sadly, apart from the first 10 minutes or so, it just did not happen. We seemed to descend from ok to mediocre to abysmal. I would have been disappointed with any loss, but 0-6 in what should be our fortress??? I cannot recall a game where so many have left so early. The shop, the 50/50 and chuck-a-puck may be doing well, but they wont continue to do so if the crowds do not come in large numbers. I imagine he didn't see people leaving so much as £20 notes wafting out of the doors!

Last night was the very first time for a long time I felt like leaving before the end,
but I go to support the team, even with such a poor loss as last night it always seems disrespectful to me to leave early.
last night was an opportunity lost
I agree with Mark, move on.

I agree with nearly all this.ginger wrote: ↑Sat Mar 01, 2025 10:46 pmWhen we flew Fox over to meet with TS before he signed, we lost 6-1 at home to Glasgow and it was a horror show. We actually were worse tonight.
Absolutely not good enough. There's about 3 players who could say they actually put a shift in (Cormier, Huttula and Dowd if anyone is wondering). Greenfield looks knackered. If De Filippo is fit enough I'd play him for a couple now and try and get Greenfield some rest before playoffs.
Some big changes coming next year. D isn't right - Cormier/Huttula/Tansey/Kelly I'd keep right now but unfortunately Diffley/Sauce have not had good years, and Guimond/Vainio just not been good enough.
Forwards is going to be almost a complete overhaul though. Dowd/Juice are fine. After that it's all debatable. Simpson is fine as a 3C but he just doesn't have enough offense for top 6. Whistle isn't hard enough on pucks and loses out in too many battles. Balmas/Watling have been ok, but not great (albeit I think injuries have played some part in that). Rest have just not been where they need to be this year. Vally/Ciampini as said before it's probably a year too many which in fairness is hard to predict.
Losing Golod really has hit hard. Hopefully he's up for a return next year.
I do however think that Whistle is a valuable member of our squad. You're probably correct in what you say, but there aren't many Brits out there with his level of skill and capable of 15 goal seasons.
He's a very useful 3rd/4th line player for me.

We did leave before the end to catch the earlier tram.ekt wrote: ↑Sun Mar 02, 2025 1:33 pmLast night was the very first time for a long time I felt like leaving before the end,

It can be a bit of a struggle for us getting back into town in time to catch the bus, so getting the earlier tram made it easy.
If the game had been closer we would have remained and had the usual mad scramble to get our buses, but the Steelers made the decision easy for us last night.
