As expected an easy victory for steelers. More like a training session which is not suprising considering fife could only muster up 15 players. Just wish the league could be more of an even playing field for all teams and that it could be more competitive throughout all the teams. But it is what it is,,,,,

I spent around 4 years doing the goal judge job over at Ice Sheffield for the Juniors when my son played in the Academy, as most hockey parents did, I know its not the same, but the rules are the same.
The definition of a "shot on goal" was one that would have gone in had it not been stopped/deflected/blocked by the netminder.
That is where the netminders stats come from and what they are judged on saves and goals against.
One that goes just wide, over the top, etc. may be a "Shot" in the direction of the goal, but not recorded as a "Shot on goal".
I've not posted on here for a while, are you new to hockey ?

I get the stat side of it I'm just saying that the saying is daft, a shot on goal or a shot wide of goal are all shots towards goal.

Maybe shots on goal then shots on target would be a better description?Rendo wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 11:45 pmI've only been following it since around 1996/7 ish.ekt wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 11:15 pmI spent around 4 years doing the goal judge job over at Ice Sheffield for the Juniors when my son played in the Academy, as most hockey parents did, I know its not the same, but the rules are the same.

I think the tracking on the EIHL website includes for all shots, including those blocked and those wide of goal.
According to that, we had 100 shots overall with 61 on goal.
Fife had 25 shots in total, with 19 on goal.
Dowd had most shots for us with 10.
Top of the +/- for the game were Simpson, Juusola, Diffley and Balmas, all with +3.
It gets much tougher on Saturday.
